Ever since the second to last site crash/downtime, freerepublic pages have exhibited very long load times, probably 70% of the time.
Some have already mentioned this issue in other threads. I did a couple of simple checks on my browser and it appears that external content, e.g. images or animated GIFs exacerbate the problem, but tonight, I am seeing the issue on the main index page, which doesn't load any external content at all.
I am seeing load times on the main page exceed 60 seconds. On pages that have images, load times are 80-120 seconds plus.
Anyone else seeing this behavior, and can they corroborate that the behavior started occurring after the second to last site crash?
I am using Firefox v50.1.0, build 20161208153507. The issue also occurs in Chrome v55.0.2883.95 (64-bit).
This is not a complaint, just hoping the mods and/or JimRob might read this and it will serve to give some more clues as to what is going on with the site.
Better latent than never.

I’ll let you know after the page loads.
No , it is not net neutrality, it is FR NEEDIN A MAKE OVER,
Yes, much slower, at times, than it normally was.
I’ve got gigabit and yesterday was so latent I couldn’t deal with it. The front page loaded, but individual threads were slow.
Today is better
There may be a DOS attack going on right now. Acts like it.
Yep! That’s A Big 10-4

They keep promising high speed internet here but it never happens. Six years ago, the telephone repairman told me they would have it in about 5 months. Never happened.
I have seen several stories on local TV stations saying some outfit is about to bring it to this area but again, nothing ever happens.
I really can’t afford Hughesnet but I have no choice. Either that or nothing.
Maybe some new hardware, but I like the site as it is, I don’t want flashy BS.
I’ve been there. Hughesnet sucks. I still have that stupid dish in my backyard that I need to take to the dump.
Like my lesbian ex-girlfriend said, “better latent than never.”
Yes, but put this on in the background and the latency will be more sublime ...

I just cleaned the dust bunnies from the phone cradle modem much faster now
Yes.
My account is already at 20, but I’ve been experiencing this problem for a week or two.
Russian hard drive
Yeah, page loading is slow, but after it’s loaded, it’s not slow anymore.
