I had NRA hunters safety two years in a row in gym class in high school. It is a good idea.

it is far better to learn the facts from experts (NRA) than learn superstition from friends and the media. the same arguments apply that the left gave for promoting sex ed.

Yes. All kids needs to learn basic life facts like:
How to behave in Traffic.
How to Swim.
Basic Gun Safety.
Safe Sex is very far down the list in comparison. But it's there too.

Depends. Who’s going to teach gun safety? The teachers?!?! They can barely teach math and reading anymore.

Should gun safety and use be taught in schools? NO. Its a private right. Keep it out of the control of educrats and the corruption from government money. The less influence of the public school bureaucracy, the better. If I want my kids learning about guns, I'll do it myself.
Learn from the Boy Scouts. When you start taking money from big corporations and government, it eventually becomes your shackles. You WILL eventually dance to their tune.

I come from the era, when boys would bring their .22s & ammo to school and have *rifle club* in the school basement. Every school had a range in the basement.
By HS, boys had intermural clubs with 4-position matches. It was a way of life. Shooting competition was considered a sport.

Not too many years ago.....Kids were shooting .22's in the auditorium of many schools.
Not too many years ago....kids going to high school had gun racks in the back window of their trucks..with a rifle racked in it.
Amazingly really....Oklahoma has H.S. skeet and trap shooting teams.

Sorry to go against the grain here but - NO ! The caliber (no pun intended) of the average school kid now-a-days wears sagging pants and regularly curses at the teachers and others and challenges authority at every turn without being held accountable for their behavior. Can you just imagine how the gibsmedats would behave with the ability to EASILY acquire a firearm ?!? Jumped up Judas Priest man - it’d be a freakin’ NIGHTMARE !
Snoot ;o)

No. We we really shouldn’t.
Given that the government schools still graduate people from High School who are illiterate and innumerate, do we really want them teaching something as important as gun safety? The results will be predictable and tragic.
Second, do we really want to encourage leftists to learn how to shoot and own firearms? Or said another way, we saw the ‘rat party base in all it’s glory in DC at the inauguration and in the fat wymyn marches. Would you hand them a gun?

Gun safety should be a national requirement prior to entering High School.
