I recently got my son a gun of his choice because I thought he was ready. He chose a Glock 31 and I am proud of his choice because he liked what this review said http://gunivore.com/pistol/glock-31-gen-4-review/
He told kids in his class and they think its dangerous and so do some of the teachers. I think it will be good if schools actually taught these kids about gun safety and how they can protect people so they know they are a tool like a knife or a hammer

I had NRA hunters safety two years in a row in gym class in high school. It is a good idea.
it is far better to learn the facts from experts (NRA) than learn superstition from friends and the media. the same arguments apply that the left gave for promoting sex ed.
I agree. But schools need to make Bible an elective or schools are going to 14th Amendment problems.

Read the Slaughterhouse cases. The ‘privileges and immunities’ clause is now essentially a dead letter.

When I was in high school in the early 70’s I was a member of the school sanctioned rifle club and would carry my rifle onto the school bus once a week when we would be going to the range. No one batted an eye. Imagine doing that these days.

In these times, bragging about possessions like this is an open invitation to whatever you want to imagine, from ridicule (in this case) to being targeted for theft.
Discretion needs to be taught along with Gun Safety...

The counterfeit "Incorporation Doctrine" is a judicial misapplication of the 14th Amendment giving the feds sweeping powers not contemplated by the ratifiers of the amendment who intended the 14th Amendment as a post-Civil War Reconstruction Amendment, to establish ex-slaves as full citizens, nothing more.
Originally intended and limited to forbidding state laws segregating former slaves as confirmed in the 1872 Slaughter-House Cases, the 14A has been construed by SCOTUS, ignoring original intent and precedent, to allow the feds to enforce the first Ten Amendments and interfere with state laws leading to a parade of horribles like banning prayer and Bible study in state schools, 70+ million abortions, threatening gun rights, interference with state marriage laws, threatening free exercise of religion, etc.

NO. Its a private right. Keep it out of the control of educrats and the corruption from government money. The less influence of the public school bureaucracy, the better. If I want my kids learning about guns, I'll do it myself.
Learn from the Boy Scouts. When you start taking money from big corporations and government, it eventually becomes your shackles. You WILL eventually dance to their tune.
I would not trust a Public School teacher on this topic, nor the students being mature.

By HS, boys had intermural clubs with 4-position matches. It was a way of life. Shooting competition was considered a sport.
