The other side of global warming? Montana gets mild

Reached by Skype at her office in the Netherlands, van der Wiel said much of climate-change research focuses on the extremes: where more drought, tropical cyclones or other disastrous developments might intensify. Or it looks at changes in global averages, which make little sense to anyone without a degree in climate science.

“But there’s a lot of data that’s not extreme,” van der Weil said. “That’s why we decided to look for mild weather.”

By that, she means daily maximum temperatures between 64 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit, daily precipitation less than 1 millimeter, and a daily average dewpoint temperature not exceeding 68 degrees. Dewpoint temperature is similar to relative humidity – the measure of how muggy the air feels.

...

Communities along the U.S.-Canadian border, Great Britain and Patagonia should see 10 to 15 more days of nice weather a year by 2100. While some of those places might have more uncomfortable summers, their springs, falls and winters should feel warmer and drier.

That's racist.

Montana is awfully cold, but living in the Northwest I see no downside to warmer temps.

Too bad the sun is the prime driver of temperatures..... it is going to get colder if sun activity is any indicator. I just had a huge wood stove installed in December and so far it is looking like the best investment I have made in a very long time!

It is a lot of work to cut, split, and stack the wood - but it is good outdoor time and exercise.

The Grizzlies in Glacier Park will have shorter hibernations.

Grizzlies will become so frightened by the prospects of global warming that their fur will turn bright white...

...resulting in an overall increase in the polar bear population.

We here in NY have been having a nice winter, as winter goes.

I’d be more than happy with a longer growing season and lower heating bills.

And I’m not worried about the Antarctic melting. The average high temperature for the year is about -49 degrees F, while the average low temperature is about -56 degrees F.

In order for the ice cap to melt, the average temperature would have to be ABOVE freezing for more of the year than it is below freezing.

Global warming? Bring it on.

Global Warming- does this mean the Great Lakes will be the new Spring Break destination for college kids?

That’s not racist. This is racist. Let the global warming come. It’ll mean more arable land further north, especially for tropical and southern plants, such as cotton and bananas, and it’ll mean employment for unskilled laborers, building dykes to keep the ocean from flooding.

I spent a couple of summers in Montana 40 years ago and it was stinkin’ hot. Best summer wx was up in Northern Michigan, worst winter was in the same place. Actually Adak wasn’t too bad, windy but better than Northern Michigan.

The article snip above essentially describes why Greenland used to have vineyards and other agriculture that is no longer possible. Simply stated, the earth has undergone multiple climate cycles that have been investigated and cataloged. Since the Industrial Age only began less than two centuries ago, most cycles have occurred without any trace of human input as to a possible cause. Even cycles occurring in the Industrial Age have had verifiable natural causes, i.e. volcanic eruptions.

Another article detailing another "scientist" using data mining rather than the scientific method, IMO.

“Global warming? Bring it on.”

I said those exact same words yesterday morning as I was chipping through a half-inch of ice from around our truck door just so I could open it. The snow plow barely made it up our hill fully chained up and had to back up the hill twice as he spread sand to get enough traction.

We got hit hard over here, just starting to melt off now. Trees and limbs down everywhere. Never lost power this time. Usually we’re out for 2-3 days and rely on our generator and well-stocked pantry.

Global warming...We’ll take all we can get.

Forecast is for the mid to upper 40’s for the next three days. Today is cloudy and 30’s but after that a nice warm spell.

You should thaw out quickly.

In addition to not establishing that climate change is caused by human activity, they have not established that it would be harmful.

Just heard the news...2016 was warmest year on record.

Was 7 hundreths (0.07) of a degree warmer than the warmest.

What a bunch of asses., It's a number that's impossible to compute. It's based on false, inaccurate and incomplete data.

I thought by the headline that it is mild, now I ready the body and it is only a prediction.

The model says so.

It’s very simple.

Which scenario - the climate alarmists, or the “deniers”, expects a “Greener” earth?
