[Vanity] I want to destroy National Review. William F Buckley must be rolling in his grave.

I often thought they could teach me something. they are so clueless and marginalized. They hate it. Bye bye Nation Review.

Just stop reading them. OK, stop reading them except for Victor Davis Hansen.

Give the old lady with the blue rinse a break. About once a generation, National Review does something crazy or at least wrong-minded, like publishing Bill Buckley’s fictitious version of the Pentagon Papers as if it were true, or NR’s earlier support for segregation. Their recent bout of NeverTrumpism will soon pass as NR realizes that Trump’s cabinet is the most conservative since Coolidge and that his policies are successful, bi time.

NR is still the best magazine read in the US.

I never understood their Never Trump mode. That was shilling for clinton. They failed at that.

So did lots of others.

They are still right on many many issues.

I think I'll continue to read NR.

Hanson is the only one worth reading there.

LOL of course. VDH is great. All the others though? Jonah Goldberg...out. Notice how they are doing the magicians trick. Look at all the issues we have in this hand, dont notice that conservatives are pissed off about what is in the other hand. National Review in my opinion is not doing any self examination. None of them. They want to steer us back to the comfy middle business as normal area. Notice we have been trying a reasonable response to immigration and we get Bush going for amnesty. Bush was NR’s guy. National Review is dead.

Mr. Buckley did not provide for orderly transition after his death. His purges against nationalists in the early 1990s was the beginning of the problem.

The “free trade” and globalism issues ended up wedges played by libs that drove a stake down the middle of conservatism. NR fell on the pro-NAFTA, pro-cheap labor side of the schism. Such a shame. In the 1960s I would read WFB religiously.

“... Their recent bout of NeverTrumpism will soon pass as NR realizes that Trump’s cabinet is the most conservative since Coolidge and that his policies are successful, BIGLY.”

There - I corrected your post. ;>)

Haven’t read NR or NRO since their stupid Against Trump stand. To hell with them. And frankly, the Buckley practice of “banning the undesirables” was a dumb idea to begin with. Democrats don’t do that. Neither should we.

Jonah Goldberg has gone off the rails. He keeps dishing out the cute anti-Trump pop culture references as if we care.

Not to mention that they had no problem cheering heartily for McCain (!) and Romney (!) during their campain=gns, despite their many deviations from conservative principle. Their rejection of Trump makes no sense in that context. They write disparagingly of “Trumpism”, but did not have similar contempt for Bushism, McCainism, or Romneyism (they never used such terms).
