When it comes to snacking, meal times and everything in between, theres one thing Americans can all agree on: the sandwich is king. Whether these stacked-bread behemoths are served up at the best breakfast restaurants in America, the best BBQ restaurants in America or are some of the secret menu items across America, we cant get enough bacon-egg-and-cheeses, beef briskets, Italian subs, classic pastrami on rye bread or spicy pork banh mi. So, the next time the craving strikes, hit up these spots to indulge in some of the best sandwiches in America.
1. Pastrami at Katzs Delicatessen in New York, NY.
Dont we all feel like Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally when eating one of these babies? Perhaps the most classic sandwich in America, Katzs juicy, sliced-to-order pastrami has been perfected over more than a century, since back in 1888 when the classic Lower East Side deli was founded. Slathered with mustard, perched on chewy rye and accompanied by sour pickles, this is a NYC must-eat. $19.95 . .

What kind of cheese?
Yes! Homemade hot pimento cheese, heavy on the bacon, grill it in butter in a cast iron skillet. The cheese oozes out and browns on the edges. Very nice. I’ve only encountered two places that do this. Otherwise, I eat them at home.
My mother made cream cheese & jelly sandwiches. Also cream cheese and sliced radishes.
A childhood favorite was PB and dill pickles.
7. Cheesesteak at Donkeys Place in Camden, NJ
I’m sure it is delicious but it has the wrong kind of bread and the wrong cheese for a true Philly Cheesesteak...
Gino’s in Philly or Gitano’s in Jersey are the best...
That’s “fried baloney”...Not “bologna”...:^)
The second name for it is “South Knoxville Ham”...
Try the one and only Culver’s for one outstanding Hamburger or any other item on the menu.

You mean like those delicious muffalettas and shrimp po-boys that I get in New Orleans.
Article’s no good without the pictures and the picture’s aren’t loading up for me. Only the first one comes up and that’s it.
The rye bread on the 19 and all the pastrami sands is incredible.
I almost went today
Central Grocery, New Orleans - Muffaletta.
Bologna and kosher dill pickles thinly sliced lengthwise. Unbelievable.
Next time you’re in Montana FReepmail me and I’ll give you directions to my quaint home in the foothills.
Good food should be shared...
Bookmarked. Thx.
A real Philly Cheesesteak from a little dive on Chestnut St.(if it’s still there) is the best I’ve ever eaten...
My favorite steak and cheese is Ghassan’s in Greensboro NC. Greasy and good.
Also a Cuban pork sandwich. Popular in Miami but there is a Cuban restaurant in downtown Detroit that makes a very good one.
A week ago I slow baked a rib roast, deciding to make some Yorkshire pudding to go along with it.
Never made them before. Used muffin tins, turned out ok. But..
I had some batter left over, Hmmmmm.
(light bulb) By golly the batter is almost the same as a crepe!
Made some crepes the next morning, used sliced banana and crunchy PB for the filling, sprinkled w/ powdered sugar and syrup.
Really good.
Uh, isn’t pastrami smoked corned beef? The pastrami guy gets first pick at Katz?
That’s an old favorite. It was a Friday favorite....in “The Fasting Years”.
