The Major League Baseball Hall of Fame was created all the way back in 1936 and has 312 members that have been enshrined over the years. The process, which involves sports writers and even former players voting and requires a player to receive 75% to be inducted, is far from perfect. Sure, you have plenty of players that are deserving that make it into the Hall of Fame without problem. But sometimes, deserving players are left out for long periodssuch as third baseman Ron Santo, who finally was selected following his death in 2011and other times undeserving players are chosen.
Here are five players that were selected but simply dont belong in the Hall of Fame.
5. Ozzie Smith ...
4. Phil Rizzuto ...
3. Jim Rice ...
2. Bill Mazeroski ...
1. Bruce Sutter ...

Ozzie Smith belongs.
Well...
Ozzie Smith was deserving based on his defense only. But he was amazing!
Rizzuto and Rice are in only because they played for the Yankees and Red Sox.
Mazeroski and Sutter...well, ya got me.
I agree with all 5. Nowadays, Hall of Fame selection has become watered down in all sports. I would say more than 60% tody are only deserving of membership in the Hall of Really Good.
No scooter how come? Munson should be there.
Andre Dawson.
Agreed.
If he's a Sutter he's supposed to be playing hockey.
Rabbit Maranville.
BS Click bait.
It’s conversation bait. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
From the article:
“Rizzuto, better known today for a mention in the movie Billy Madison than his actual playing career, was a first baseman for the New York Yankees in the 1940s and 1950s.”
Everybody’s allowed a careless mistake or two, but it’s tough to take anybody seriously if they don’t even know Rizzuto was a shortstop. Heck, all I did during that era was hate the Yankees, and even I knew he played short. And that’s partly relevant because his slash line would be anemic for a first-baseman, but not that awful for a shortstop with a good glove.
Not that the process is flawless, but Baseball HoF still has no mandatory minimum number that has to be inducted every year. Some years they don’t put any player in. I think 2013 was the last year that happened?
I think Bonds and Clemens will be much closer, we’ll see. I never thought they would get in but they might now.
Freegards
Holy cow!
Hall of Fame for anything, rock-n-roll, baseball, etc., are all about money and politics.
Anyone paying attention to that pop-culture crap is a gullible idiot. Watch games and shows and enjoy the entertainment, that’s all it is. Nothing more.
Since Ozzie Smith is considered by many to be the greatest defensive player of all time ...
I was thinking that myself
Yeah. And Mickey Mantle was a pitcher.
And Yogi Berra was a shortstop.
Maybe they'll put Scooter in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his cameo appearance on "Paradise By the Dashboard Light."
