Get ready for a blockbuster sequel.
Its Alabama vs. Clemson, The Rematch.
The top-ranked Crimson Tide will take on the No. 3 Tigers in a do-over of last seasons national championship game, a 45-40 thriller won by Alabama.
If the Jan. 9 matchup in Tampa comes anywhere close to that classic in the desert, it will more than make up for two semifinal duds on Saturday.
Alabama (14-0) wore down No. 4 Washington for a 24-7 victory in the Peach Bowl, while Clemson dominated No. 2 Ohio State 31-0 in the Fiesta Bowl, handing Urban Meyer the first shutout of his coaching career.
The Tide opened as a touchdown favorite.
CBSSports.coms Jon Solomn writes that while Clemson was inconsistent at times this season, the Tigers always looked like potentially the toughest matchup for Alabama. Clemson has the defensive line, the dual-threat quarterback, and a number of offensive weapons to threaten Alabama.
Still, this is an Alabama team that leads the nation in total defense, rushing defense and defensive touchdowns. This might be Coach Nick Sabans best defense ever. Its certainly the fastest and most athletic.

They are who they are because theyre the best, theyre the standard, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney. Were excited. If youre ever going to be the best, youve to beat them. Its going to be an unbelievable game. Im glad weve got a shot. Thats all we can ask for.
Alabama will be going for its fifth national championship in eight seasons, a run that already has stamped it

Score was 17-0 til 2:00 min. left in the 3rd Q.
Mich.was down 21-3 and came back to take the lead over FSU.
I didn’t see OSU making any Remarkable comeback, however their Defense played pretty well against Clemsons High powered offense.
That’s sexual assault.
Eww.
These guys need to be publicly questioned about this and shamed.
I have provided 2 instances.
Where there’s smome there is fire.
In Ohio and still say that if any Big 10 team should have been there it should have been Penn State - not a fan of them either, just believe a conference championship should mean something. All about the $s...sucks.
I will say again - 4 weeks of playoffs starting week after Army-Navy/conference championship week (1st or second weekend in Dec). There are 10 conferences and about 5 independent teams in Div I - each conference winner and the best record among independents (as long as they exist) should get 1 seed. 16-11 leaves 5 seeds for the next based on record/strength of sched/combined rankings. No one can argue about the other 11 as it’s based on how they performed during the season and existing conference rules. Week 1 16 to 8, Week 2 8 to 4. 1 week for finals either between 1 and 2 or between 2 and 3. Week 3 4 to 2. 4 weeks takes us to the first week of January with final 2nd week of January just like it is now.
Heck take it to 32 teams and make it winner of each conference division (that would be 19) with additional 12 best record seeds. Take out the finals week break and you can still finish at the same time.
Anyone who disagrees tell me why the basketball tournament doesn’t have as many complaints? Seeding - psh - nothing compared to what we see with football. And the bball teams still have classes during the tournament - football would have Christmas/end of year break thrown in. We’d get a TRUE Champion. Into the tournament based on a full years conference performance and beat all comers to win.
The mantra for Bama fans this year has been “Just run the ball, Kiffin!” Lane gets too cute with the pass game sometimes when he should let the RB’s pound it and set up the pass. Of course, getting rid of some stupid penalties will help the offense, too.
That does seem a bit odd why #42 was doing that! But that doesn’t make the coach homo!
Did I say the coach was one?
42 was feeling him up while 91 held him down! Man, that’s just wrong.
The Alabamans better watch their junk!
No I thought the other poster thought you were saying that!
Clemson looked very good, very fast and changed direction (offensively) to counter OSU pursuit very effectively.
It should be a very good game v. ‘Bama Clemson is better than I expected (I watched the 2nd and 3rd Qs...the most football I watched all season)
No, but that player should be suspended. Why was he not suspended?
Roll Tide!!!
I’ve already provided evidence. Suggest you read the thread.
Or have you already done so and are now hiding?
Sports radio will be all over it.
Hey, small world, I was at that game in Athens in 76 when Georgia beat Bama 21-0...great ballgame...
