Public television and radio stations like PBS and NPR got $445 million from the government in 2012or about 0.014 percent of the federal budget. I don't understand why the American taxpayer should subsidize any television or radio stations.
$445, in my opinion, is a lot of money. A lot of money. NPR is another very liberal outlet.
I say defund NPR. What say you?
No, next question.
Only if Brietbart gets an equal allotment!
Of course they should be cut free.
Should the government subsidize Saturday Night Live?
No wonder the noes are so slim. It won’t let me vote no.
Hey now, there’s a “right” to npr just like there’s a “right” to early termination of pregnancy. Right?
No
Not one dollar.
Imagine how much the government could make selling licenses to broadcast on the lower end of the spectrum. Each market seems to have 3-5 NPR stations broadcasting the same tired junk.
I enjoy their production, but it has the most politically bigoted content I’ve ever heard.
They target and loathe anything remotely conservative or law abiding.
IMHO, they exercise a conflict of interest in being funded by the US Budget. Not only should they be charged, arrested, and judged, they and those who support their government funding should be incarcerated.
Title of the poll at Debate.Org:
“Should the government stop funding NPR?”
Results to date:
84% Yes - 16% No
NO!!!
My wife listens to that crap. They were openly anti-Trump during the election season, some of their reporters even admitted that they felt it was their duty to “protect” voters from this dangerous candidate.
Even if NPR wasn’t blatant Globalist Propaganda there is no need for taxpayer-funded media in the USA. Americans have no difficulty producing plenty of media content through the free-market system.
I say no tax payer funds for NPR. Now if people contribute their own money (non tax deductible) to keep it running I am OK with that.
Actually, you probably should click on “Yes”. The debate question is, “Should the government STOP funding NPR?”
This seems like a no brainer. I contend, that the federal budget has ballooned so much with subsidies and handouts, that it would add up to billions over time.
500 million saved annually, doesn’t sound like much, but it is, and over ten years that 5 billion.
We have majorities now in all three chambers. We are about to control the SCOTUS. Now, is the time.
No.
That's the only way the federal budget will actually become rational - a half billion here, and a half billion there. The ENTIRE grant to NPR is an excellent place to start.
NPR should be privatized.
