This is what happens when you chop a nation in half.
Before December 3, 1971, Pakistan was a country suffering from a split personality disorder. When British India became independent in 1947, the country was divided into Hindu India and Muslim Pakistan. The problem was that East Pakistan and West Pakistan were almost a thousand miles apart, and wedged in between them was archenemy India. Imagine if the United States only consisted of the East Coast and West Coast, and Russia controlled all of North America in between.
Thirteen days later, Pakistan had been amputated. Indian troops had conquered East Pakistan, which became the new nation of Bangladesh. More than ninety thousand Pakistani soldiers were taken prisoner, half the Pakistani Navy had been sunk and the Indian Air Force came out on top. It was total humiliation, and not just for Pakistan. The United States and Britain sent aircraft carriers in a futile attempt to intimidate India, and ended up facing off against Soviet warships. Pakistans defeat also spurred its rulers to begin development of nuclear weapons.

Imagine if the Bolsheviks controlled the East Coast and West Coast, and patriots controlled all of North America in between the coasts. Not too difficult to imagine, is it?

Pakistan, proof that moslems can’t get along with anyone, even Ghandi.
Bravo!
Consider how much safer and more prosperous Muslims are in India, as opposed to Pakistan.
Good one!
But imagine how much more dangerous the world would be if the Muslim minority had dominated the Hindu majority -- that is not altogether outside of the realm of possibility (and indeed was true of large and varying parts of India for more than 500 years), in which case we would have a dangerous, unstable India with its Muslim leadership constantly starting conflicts all over the world in order to keep its domestic problems contained.
No thanks.
Geography and demography give Middle America a military advantage over the northeast and the left-coast. It has the breadbasket of the Midwest, the Mississippi River (the longest navigable river in the world), the industrial heartland, vast reserves of oil, natural gas, and coal, access to the Atlantic and Caribbean oceans, and people who know how to build, farm, hunt, and shoot. I also posit that it would not me a war between the states so much as a war between the rural and industrial areas against the mega city states of Chicago, the Northeast Corridor, and the coastal cities of Southern California. In those cities squat the billionaire class handing out government cheese to the squalid masses.
Bangladesh: proof that Mohammedans can't get along with anyone, even each other.
Right now, India has the second LARGEST population of Muslims in the world; over 175 million of them; 11 percent of the world’s Muslims!
That’s NOT counting Pakistan or Bangladesh.
Only Indonesia has more Muslims, with 210 Million.
Right now Muslims are 172 million of 1,310 million in India. Add to that about 181 of 189 million in Pakistan and 150 of 161 million in Bangladesh. That's a total of 503 million of 1.66 billion. Greater India would be a considerably different country with almost one third of the largest country in the world being Muslim.
Those states also have "vast reserves of oil, natural gas, and coal, access to the Atlantic and Pacific oceans (there is no such thing as the "Caribbean" ocean.)
Remedy this analysis by carefully examining the red-blue map as you do further on. However, you're also somewhat mistaken on that point as well: The blue cancer doesn't just exist in Chicago, but runs a significant length down the Mississippi river. St. Louis is every bit as awful as Chicago, just for example.
It's urban vs. non-urban that matters.
If India had included all of British India it would be more than a third Mohammedan. And all the more likely that such a large minority would distort India's politics.
Again: No thanks.
“Imagine if the Bolsheviks controlled the East Coast and West Coast, and patriots controlled all of North America in between the coasts. Not too difficult to imagine, is it?”
When I read that, I thought EXACTLY the same. It is scary...and true.
“The world would be a better and safer place today if Pakistan had never been created, and the Muslims currently living there had simply remained a minority in India.”
But just imagine the hell that the Indians would have to go through if that had happened. But you are right regarding the rest of the world.

I suppose I should clarify my statement, when I say middle America, on the West Coast I’m talking about the Intermountain Rocky west right up to the coast excluding L.A, and San Frwncisco. On the east coast I an including all of Appalachia and that includes everything up to the coastal areas. The New England I’m talking about is the coast along the Northeast Corridor to the ocean which is just one big sprawling metropolis. I’m talking about the major cities along the coast not the entire states As far as Illinois goes, I don’t think anyone in Ruhl Illinois gives a shit about crooked Chicago. It’s the major metropolitan areas against everybody else, state borders in modern America are not nearly as significant as they were no the Civil War era and will not really matter all that much in the ideological conflict that is looming.
I grew up in Pennsylvania, lived in Upstate New York, visited California and currently live in New Jersey. I can say with without a shadow of a doubt that these states are much more conservative than people believe when urban, academic, state capitals and illegal alien areas are taken out of the equation. The conservative to moderate areas are predominantly the producers, land with resources and military bases. A good graphic is the 2016 election map broken down by counties.
