OK, my son is at Parris Island right now and as of today has one month to graduation. He is hanging tough. But he wrote me and asked for more letters, more news. My fingers are about worn out sending and writing stuff. He likes Marine jokes and I sent him a few but I am running out of ideas. I would like you guys to submit Marine positive humor that I can send him to encourage both him and the other men in his platoon. We need to encourage these guys. Jokes are welcome. Letters are welcome. Help me support our newest Marines. They already deserve it!
Not a bad Camp , but really nothing on base there I found. As soon as you leave the gates there are the strip joints, the tattoo place, but Jacksonville NC is not on my list t go back to, though I did find the Beirut monument there was very good for the 2nd Div Marines, and worth a visit.
3 Generals were arguing about whose men were tougher. The Army General told the soldier to lay down in front of the moving tank. Yes sir!, and got himself smushed.
The Air Force General: Airman! Jump in that plane and jump out at 10,000 feet WITHOUT a parachute! Yes sir-got himself smushed.
The Marine General? “That ain’t nuthin” Hey Marine! See that flagpole? I want you to climb up to the pointed top and sit on it. “No sir, I won’t do that.” The Marine General then turns to the other Generals and said: “See I told you my men were toughest.”
When my nephew was in the Marine’s I sent him a daily good old fashioned blond joke. He would respond with a joke each time as well. Lots of online joke sites.
Indeed.
LOL, I don’t know about that, but they certainly have a different approach to battle than the Army.
There is a lot to admire in the Marines.
I enjoyed having the base sticker and access to the golf courses. The starter left at 5:30. :)
* very nice fellow
* prior to signing Otis for the role, Jack took him to a Lakers' game (Jack has long had front-row season-seats) "to see if I was still the same guy"
* Otis was preparing to move back east and become a Christian pastor
* subsequently I lost touch with Otis but learned he died about fifteen years ago
As my son will always tell me since he is a Marine serving. You go in and kill or be killed, it is that simple.
In the end though I have found from my time serving that there are always good and bad in any branch, and while the philosophy may be different the ends are always the same.
Respect to all.
Marine funny bump
Sad to hear he is gone.
My Ass Rides In Navy Equipment?
Thanks for the background info yes jack was at court side all the time I knew one of the VIP waitresses I’d buy a cheap ticket and she would get me down to the floor and find me a seat fun times. Otis was great in that movie just read his wiki
Merry Christmas, My Friend
By James M. Schmidt, a Marine Lance Corporal
stationed in Washington, D.C., in 1986
Twas the night before Christmas, he lived all alone,
In a one bedroom house made of plaster & stone.
I had come down the chimney, with presents to give
and to see just who in this home did live
As I looked all about, a strange sight I did see,
no tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.
No stocking by the fire, just boots filled with sand.
On the wall hung pictures of a far distant land.
With medals and badges, awards of all kind,
a sobering thought soon came to my mind.
For this house was different, unlike any I’d seen.
This was the home of a U.S. Marine.
I’d heard stories about them, I had to see more,
so I walked down the hall and pushed open the door.
And there he lay sleeping, silent, alone,
Curled up on the floor in his one-bedroom home.
He seemed so gentle, his face so serene,
Not how I pictured a U.S. Marine.
Was this the hero, of whom Id just read?
Curled up in his poncho, a floor for his bed?
His head was clean-shaven, his weathered face tan.
I soon understood, this was more than a man.
For I realized the families that I saw that night,
owed their lives to these men, who were willing to fight.
Soon around the Nation, the children would play,
And grown-ups would celebrate on a bright Christmas day.
They all enjoyed freedom, each month and all year,
because of Marines like this one lying here.
I couldnt help wonder how many lay alone,
on a cold Christmas Eve, in a land far from home.
Just the very thought brought a tear to my eye.
I dropped to my knees and I started to cry.
He must have awoken, for I heard a rough voice,
“Santa, don’t cry, this life is my choice
I fight for freedom, I don’t ask for more.
My life is my God, my country, my Corps.”
With that he rolled over, drifted off into sleep,
I couldn’t control it, I continued to weep.
I watched him for hours, so silent and still.
I noticed he shivered from the cold night’s chill.
So I took off my jacket, the one made of red,
and covered this Marine from his toes to his head.
Then I put on his T-shirt of scarlet and gold,
with an eagle, globe and anchor emblazoned so bold.
And although it barely fit me, I began to swell with pride,
and for one shining moment, I was Marine Corps deep inside.
I didn’t want to leave him so quiet in the night,
this guardian of honor so willing to fight.
But half asleep he rolled over, and in a voice clean and pure,
said “Carry on, Santa, it’s Christmas Day, all secure.”
One look at my watch and I knew he was right,
Merry Christmas my friend, Semper Fi and goodnight.
Reports are that after leaving the Corps, Corporal Schmidt earned a law degree and now serves as an
attorney in Los Angeles and is director of operations for a security consulting firm.
I was Navy but a good friend of mine was a Marine. I reminded him once that the Marines were a department of the Navy. His reply was quick, he said yes, the men’s department.
Was one of your DI’s named Olivar?
Two marines walk into a bar.
50 patrons run out of the bar.
Food for thought. We DID volunteer for it after all, rather than being shanghaied against our will.
So funny!
Basic training story from AOCS Pensacola...
Jones is the only Navy Intel Officer Candidate, all the others in my class are Pilot Candidates...
Jones failed swim / dilbert dunker in the morning, we (19 of us) are at chow with 5 USMC DI’s, all characters, all E-7 and above. All funny but we would never ever crack a smile in their presence.
Master Gunnery SGT Berup: “Jones!”
Jones: “Here Sir!”
Master Gunnery SGT Berup: “Jones! Did you fail swim today?”
Jones: “Yes Sir!”
Master Gunnery SGT Berup: “Jones! How long were you in the Navy before you came here?”
Jones: “11 years Sir!”
Master Gunnery SGT Berup: “Jones!”
Jones: “Yes Sir!”
Master Gunnery SGT Berup: “What did you do ... in the 11 years ... that you were in the Navy?”
Jones: “Sir this Candidate was in Intelligence.”
Master Gunnery SGT Berup: “Jones!”
Jones: “Yes sir!”
Master Gunnery SGT Berup: “Jones! Don’t you think .... it would have been intelligent .... to learn how to swim ... in the 11 years ... that you were in the Navy?”
Jones: “Yes Sir!”
**** Class can’t help but let out a rare hint of muffled laughter in our seats as we ate. To us it was a riot -— up there with Heartbreak Ridge quotes.
