Its been a rather strange 2016 season in the NFL. Teams expected to be among the top contenders (Colts and Packers) are fighting for their playoff lives, while teams not expected to do much (Raiders and Cowboys) sit atop their divisions and look to secure home-field advantage.
Such unpredictability helps make the NFL exciting and fun each year.
Two playoff contenders, the Cowboys and Vikings, will battle it out on Thursday Night Football this week. The Cowboys own the NFC East with the best record in the NFL (10-1). Theyre also riding a 10-game winning streak thanks to rookie quarterback Dak Prescott and rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott. The Cowboys look to continue their momentum against the Vikings, who they havent defeated in Minnesota since 1995.
How The Cowboys Can Clinch A Playoff Berth This Weekend
This might be their year. Its hard to overstate how surprising and impressive the Cowboys rise has been. Tony Romo is now the quarterback of the past in Dallas, and Prescott is clearly the future. Additionally, Elliott leads the league with 1,199 yards on the ground and could break the NFL rookie record for most rushing yards in a season.
Outspoken wide receiver Dez Bryant, who has just 33 receptions for 550 yards this season, has been a popular target for Prescott as of late. Bryant has 18 receptions and three touchdowns in the last three games. A big reason for the Cowboys success, of course, is their offensive line, possibly the best in football.
NFL Ratings Ailing? Cowboys Provide The Cure
The 2016 Vikings havent been nearly as consistent. Losing starting QB Teddy Bridgewater and star running back Adrian Peterson early on, the team was all but left for dead. And yet they won their first five games. Acquiring Sam Bradford, the Eagles talented and injury-prone passer, certainly helped, as did a stout and stingy defense. Then they lost their next four games and split their last two to end up trailing the Lions in the NFC North hunt. The Vikings still hope to make a playoff run, and the schedule beyond the Cowboys game seems favorable. But there is significant work to be done if Minnesota is to be considered a championship-caliber team. Petersons return in the coming weeks should help if the playoffs remain within reach.
Jerry Jones Explains How Dak Is The Daddy Cowboys Hall Of Fame QBs Never Did What Prescott Has
Players, such as Stefon Diggs, Kyle Rudolph, and Adam Thielen, have stepped up to help the offense in Petersons absence. But it has been an uphill battle.
Bradford landed on the Vikings injury report Monday with an ankle issue that limited his practice time. The star quarterback will be needed, and needed at full strength, Thursday night. Cornerback Captain Munnerlyn and safety Harrison Smith also sat out of practice on Monday. Neither has been ruled out for Thursday, and the injury-riddled Vikings hope to have both players against the Cowboys high-powered attack.
The depleted Vikings hope they have enough on offense and defense to take down the NFLs best team. They dont. The Cowboys shouldnt have a problem winning their 11th in a row on Thursday.
Prediction: Dallas Cowboys 32 Minnesota Vikings 21
That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it!...............
I am sooooooo stealing that!...............
At least the Cowboys players wanted to honor the fallen policemen, though the NFL didn’t allow it. Not going to hold it against the team.
The teams in Dallas's division all have winning records except Philly which is 1 game below .500. I don't see where that qualifies as a weak schedule. The team with the weakest schedule is the Texans, who are lucky to be in the worst division in the league.
I think the NFL should award playoff spots based on w/L records not just on division standings, that way stinkers with 8-8 records wouldn't advance over teams with better records in better divisions.
I was just thinking the guy is an R. Crumb cartoon come to life, if you can dig it.
Because the teams they have played ...and beaten, this year had an average record of 5-11 last year. Those teams MAY have a better record than that THIS year but they also would have a weaker schedule this year based on their record last year.
NFL strives for parity plus we all know Jerry Jones is a loser.
I miss Bud Grant. He would laugh at these clowns in their indoor stadiums.
The NFL has conscientiously chosen to side with P.C., leftist communist, black-racist "ONLY Black Lives Matter", anarchist thugs who HATE AMERICA, HATE AMERICAN CITIZENS, HATE OUR VALUES, AND HATE THE FANS PAYING TO SEE THEM PLAY A CHILD'S GAME!
It doesn't matter what Jerry does or says because everyone else; from the nfl teams they play, the nfl sponsors who advertise, the owners, managers, staff abd players all the way up to and including the nfl commissioner himself actively supports siding with the very communist, black-rasist, P.C., ANTI-AMERICAN anarchist thugs who HATE US, HATE6 OUR NATION AND E V E R Y T H I N G OUR NATION STANDS FOR! THEY DESPISE THEIR FANS! THEY CONTINUALLY PISS ALL OVER THEM EVERY WEEK, AND EVERY CHANCE THEY GET, CALL IT "RAIN" AND EXPECT US TO SHUT UP AND CONTINUE TO PAY THEM OBSCENE AMOUNTS OF OUR HARD EARNED MONEY FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF LETTING THEM CONTINUE TO ABUSE US!
Sorry, MILLIONS UPON MILLIONS OF US FORMER nfl FANS ARE BOYCOTTING THE nfl; WE'RE NO LONGER GOING TO WATCH OR SUPPORT THE nfl OR ANY OF ITS SPONSORS. AND FROM THE DISASTROUS PLUNGING WEEKLY VIEWER RATINGS THE NUMBER OF FORMER nfl FANS JOINING THIS BOYCOTT IS GROWING EXPONENTIALLY EVERY WEEEK TO THE POINT WHERE THE nfl WILL EVENTUALLY COLLAPSE FINANCIALLY AND DIE.
AS A DIRECT RESULT OF OUR SUCCESSFUL BOYCOTT THE nfl IS NOW HEMORRHAGING MONEY TO THE TUNE OF HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS A WEEK. SO THE nfl HAS ONE OF TWO CHOICES:
1) THEY CAN CONTINUE TO SIDE WITH THE ENEMY, HOSE AMERICA AND THEIR FOrRMER FAN BASE; IGNORE, DENY AND DEFEND THE HORRIFIC PROBLEM THEY, THEMSELVES IN THE nfl HAVE CREATED, AND QUICKLY BECOME TOTALLY IRRELEVANT AND DIE. Or:
2) THE nfl CAN DECISIVELY PUT AN END TO THIS COMMUNIST, ANTI-AMERICAN, P.C., BLACK RACIST, ANARCHIST NONSENSE ONCE AND FOR ALL, AND SURVIVE! The choice is up to the nfl.
One more thing: THE nfl CAN NO LONGER HAVE IT BOTH WAYS; THEY HAVE TO MAKE A CHOICE BETWEEN ONE OR THE OTHER BECAUSE "WE (AMERICANS AND FORMER nfl FANS) ARE MAD AS BLAZES AND WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!"
As a direct result of the nfl's own actions and policies: THE nfl HAS "AWOKEN A 'SLEEPING GIANT' AND FILLED HIM WITH TERRIBLE RESOLVE!" If it wants to survive the nfl had best choose option #1, otherwise, the nfl is dead!
If Jerry cares and wants to survive, he had better pass this message along, and make sure his teams policies are adopted by the entire nfl (Choice #1). Otherwise his team will suffer the same consequences as the rest, and die like the rest.
We former nfl fans hold ALL OF THE CARDS! We do not need the nfl; in order to SURVIVE, the nfl NEEDS US, BECAUSE WITHOUT US THE nfl HAS NOTHING!
BOYCOTT THE nfl!7
Horseshiite!! All season everyone has said; The Cowboys can’t beat Cincinatti, they have the best run defense in the league. The next week it’s they can’t beat Green Bay, the Packers will shut down the run. Then it was, no way will they beat Pittsburgh. Week after week the experts have been dead wrong. Dallas swept the AFC North, swept the Redskins, beat the Eagles in their house. What else do you want them to do? This is a very good football team that everyone left for dead when Tony Romo went down. Well......how do you like them now? Or as Jimmy Johnson used to say... HOW BOUT’ THEM COWBOYS!!!!!!
:-D
Even so, Dallas has managed to beat them with a rookie quarterback and running back, which would be a feat for any team. It’s hard to argue against 10-1,even if it’s just because you don’t like the team.
Weak schedule and they will be exposed in the playoffs if they make it there.
Don’t let your infatuation with them make you totally delusional.
So who do like that has such a strong schedule that they can't win?
I just asked who your favorite team is..
No, that’s a complete bullshit story.
Jones is a loser anyway. Cowboys are goin nowhere. Weak schedule only reason they are 10-1.
I always root for the home team.
Well better luck next year...
