So why is Mark falling into that trap?
Kristol and Galston: In Defense of Liberal Democracy
A joint statement.

In a joint statement, Brookings Institution scholar William Galston and WEEKLY STANDARD editor Bill Kristol offer a defense of the “basic institutions and principles of liberal democracy” which they argue are under assault. Read the full statement below:
The authors of this statement do not make an obvious team. Over the past four decades we have never voted for the same presidential candidate. Weve worked in White Houses of different parties. One of us was a senior aide to a presidential candidate who sought to replace the president the other worked for.
We’ve differed on major policy issues. One of us vigorously backed the war in Iraq; the other just as vigorously opposed it. We’ve publicly debated many times, usually focusing on our differences. These disagreements persist.

And we stand together against an alternative right disdainful of the traditions of American conservatism and a vocal left that blends socialist economics with identity politics. We stand together against a dangerous impatience with the legal forms and constitutional constraints that are guarantors of our liberty. We stand together in defense of an open, generous liberal democracy as the strongest foundation for addressing the very real challenges that we face and the legitimate frustrations with the status quo that we feel.

“There is no effen alt-right. That is all make believe made up by the left to lump in everyone left of Romney.”
Really?

If this is your idea of Conservatism...Count Me Out
I’ll be in the other room with the sane people.
Oh yes good old Mark
Born with his you’re a Nazi card
Screw him
Wrong darling
At the last minute he stated he’d vote for Trump after eviscerating him for months and months including coming on here on Free Republic ...his nick is holdonnow one night and being pretty ugly for a public figure
I own most of his books and listened daily including his pods
But over the years his cluelessness about southern Christians and our history gave me the impression he had no understanding of the heartland or Christian traditional America and he south bashed just like a neocon like Beck or Krauthammer would have even though I did not view him as a Neo
So I I tolerated or changed the channel when he went off on my ancestors
Then he really showed his true colors on Trump and the mask was off
Mark is keenly fixated on anti Semitism like a chip on his shoulders and will use that to silence callers and others
It’s his schtick
He sees it everywhere often unmerited
Smearing with bigotry charges to silence detractors is what libs do
No thanks
His ratings are way down for a good reason
I’m alt right and Mark Levin can kiss my former listener ass
The term Alt-Right has been around at least since 2008 when the great conservative scholar Paul Gottfried offhandedly invented it.
The term can mean a number of things. I suppose it’s most commonly identified right now with some young activists whose driving force seems to be a hatred of political correctness. They stir the pot by violating every PC shibboleth possible, and then stand back and watch what happens. Good taste and sound judgement aren’t exactly their strong points. Their enemies would have the gullible believe that they are a bunch of Nazis, an idea which some of the exuberant Alt-Right would egg on just to watch PC heads explode.
But again the term as Paul Gottfried used it means more than that, and includes thoughtful conservatives whose writing is outside what the hacks who comprise “Conservatism, Inc” want it to include.
Gottfried’s own reflections on the subject can be found here:
“cuckservative” is a portmaneau invented by the Alt-Right to denigrate their stodgy Republican critics. It has cleverness (cuckold + conservative) plus the vaguely rude quality that gets the reaction that they are looking for.
