The body of an Oregon man who slipped and fell into a scalding hot spring while he was trying to “hot-spot” at Yellowstone National Park earlier this year dissolved before rescue crews could finish their recovery, according to a recent report. Colin Nathaniel Scott, 23, was with his younger sister when he walked more than 200 yards away from the boardwalk on June 7 to a hot spring called Pork Chop Geyser.
Scott was planning to “hot-spot,” or soak in the water but slipped and fell in when he reached down to check the temperature, television station KULR reported Monday following a Freedom of Information Act request.
The incident was apparently recorded by Scott’s sister, according to the television station, but park officials would not release or comment on the video.

There are walkways that are there for a reason—and plenty of signs warning you not to wander off them.
Yellowstone is amazing—definitely worth a visit.

A class mate of mine back in 6th grade circa 69-70, little brother fell into Old faithful.

There’s hot springs in my area and some of them are plenty hot to cook a meal in. I kinda doubt the young guy’s body “dissolved”,but more like kinda fell apart like a chicken left in a crockpot for too long does. Rescuers would reach for his arm, only to have it instantly de-boned.
I read elsewhere that’s all the Park rangers were able to recover.

Probably a “Keep on Trail” sign. My first time in the Everglades, I came upon an orange cone on the trail. Hmmmmm....wonder what that’s about. Hear some squeaks and small splashes. Now, I’m an inveterate swamp rat from way back, so I move in a little closer. Baby alligators! Which means mommy alligator. Babies were between me and her, or I’d have some wicked scars.

Luckily, they’re easier to move than a bison! ;)
I was just there a couple months back. We were at one of the larger pools, I think at Grand Prismatic Spring...if you've ever been, you'll remember it's where everyone seems to lose their hats since you seem them all over the place. Idiots.
The family in front of us on the boardwalk was dawdling along with the mom in front and the kids trailing behind. One of the kids thought it'd be fun to balance and walk along the edge of the boardwalk in a spot where there wasn't a railing... so I doubt the ground below was some of that fragile crust you could fall through, but there was still that few inches of water flowing by and the lovely bacterial mat that grows everywhere.
As you'd guess, the girl slipped and started to go in until I snatched her arm and hauled her back up. Dear mother had no idea what just happened even as everyone around was gasping at the whole ordeal they just witnessed. Girl ran up to mom crying and I still doubt she ever knew her 6-7 year old kid nearly fell in.
Suffice to say, there are a LOT of visitors to Yellowstone, there are signs literally everywhere, but you simply can't fix or prevent stupid.
