Miss Iceland announced she is quitting the Miss Grand International beauty contest in Las Vegas after being told she has too much fat. Arna Ýr Jónsdóttir wrote a letter to the organization informing them of her decision after she was told to lose weight if she wanted to stand a chance to win.
The 20-year old shared the letter on Instagram. I am a very strong woman, but sometimes my strength isnt enough, it read.

This is silly. Either these pictures are old. Or she is listening to the wrong people. I am sure that every girl in these shows hears stuff that would not be appropriate anywhere else. And that they may not be appropriate there either. Clearly the girl had issues beyond these comments.
If she really looks like the pics, she was crazy to quit.

Obviously she’s very beautiful, and I get that she’s proud to be happy with herself the way she is. But at the same time, if you don’t want your body to be critiqued in every possible way, then don’t enter a beauty pageant.

I don’t know if she has any Sami in her heritage, and they aren’t prevalent in Iceland, but she has the classic Nordic facial features. I’m sure that is why she is considered ‘fat’.
They chose a person with the build of a model, not a Weight Watchers “before” person.
