A member of the Swedish Academy that awarded the 2016 Nobel Prize in literature to Bob Dylan says the American singer-songwriter’s silence since receiving the honor is “impolite and arrogant.”
Per Wastberg said Dylan’s lack of reaction to the honor the academy bestowed on him last week was predictable, but disrespectful nonetheless.
“One can say that it is impolite and arrogant. He is who he is,” Wastberg was quoted as saying in Saturday’s edition of the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter. …

Kind of surprised after he recorded “Neighborhood Bully”, that the Committee would have awarded anything to Dylan.
What a riot. Buncha pinheads managing a fund started by the inventor of dynamite, who’ve given a “peace prize” to a known palestinian terrorist/murderer (Arafat), do-nothing with no resume to speak of “community activist” first-term President (before he started undeclared war bombing campaigns on two continents), yeah, those guys. And they’re whining because one of their “nominees” are blowing them off. Sure. Dylan’s above and beyond their poser act. Your answer “academy” is blowing in the TNT.
Perhaps Bob Dylan has great respect for the prize and does not want to demean it by accepting it.
The Peace Prize people are different than these people——and a different country.

Nah, he’s on tour. Hasn’t mentioned it on stage, so far.
It got a one line mention on his official website, which is managed by whoever, but not Himself.
Dylan to the committee: “The answer, alas, is, ‘Blow it out your ass.’ The answer is, ‘Blow it out your ass.’”
Maybe he didn’t want to be identified with a group of complete idiots that would give that prize to clowns like Obama, Gore, Arafat, Carter, etc.
Since the Nobel Prizes have become meaningless and mostly political, they shouldn’t expect any respect from any of the recipients. Obama had no business getting the Nobel Peace prize, and it was granted on the belief that he would work towards peace. Yeah, we have peace all over the world, just as expected. If the Nobel committees had any decency, they would ask Obama to give back the award, and they would proceed to declare that from now on, only those that actually accomplished anything to improve the conditions of mankind, would deserve the award(s). With Obama, it was their way of trying to make things happen, and were hoping that Obama would not let them down. But, Obama was a nobody and unaccomplished and could not possibly deliver on any of the Nobel people’s hopes.
Bob Dylan should come out and put the Nobel people in their place, and tell them that he didn’t really do anything that deserves an award, just like Obama didn’t merit getting any award. He should tell them that they cheapened the meaning of the Nobel Peace Prize by awarding it to a nobody who hadn’t earned it, and still hasn’t earned it, 8 years later.
I think it is hilarious the winner of the Nobel prize for literature has nothing to say.

A funny Dylan story:
He sometimes invests in real estate. Not to live there, but simply as a form of speculation.
It was well before a concert somewhere, in a pretty black neighborhood on a rainy day.
He was on foot and not dressed fancy, just walking along checking out buildings and houses.
This was a place where it’s unusual to see white pedestrians —they called the cops on him, as it seemed he was casing houses.
Cop was much younger, you’ll agree I think that a Martian’s first guess as to his job would not be “rock star” —he’s pretty ugly.
Cop starts interrogating him, why u here, musician, huh? Where is your gig? He says the name of this ENORMOUS stadium, or something. She comes back, “Oh! So you’re a HUUUUGE star, huh..”
He says, “Well....yeah some people have told me that...”
He doesn’t pull that whole, DO YOU FREAKING KNOW WHO I AM??!?! thing, not at all. He probably relished being taken for a “normal person”, right?
So she cuffs him up, puts him in the squad, yeah arrests him, takes him to the station

Yeah, that WHOLE time he didn’t cap an attitude AT ALL.
You know with 99% of people I think refusing the award would be an act of arrogance but in his case I think it’s an act of MODESTY.
Dylan has a long history of unusual responses to awards.
