By the middle of the century, the th sound will have vanished from the English spoken in London due to the high level of immigrants who cannot pronounce it, linguists have said. In a study that shows the impact immigration is having on the English language, academics at the University of York say that Estuary English, the dialect currently spoken in London and south east England, will gradually be replaced by a heavily migrant-influenced English.

Isn’t English itself a pidgin?
‘Th’ is already replaced with a ‘v’ in parts of England.
“Don’t bovver me, mate.”
I always wondered by Thames is pronounced “Tims”
“Look here, Moneypenny... precisely how many have these ‘linguists’ predicted a change in the English language - correctly - in the past?”
Well, thufferin’ thuccotash...
My birfday is on earfday. Maf is hard.
If someone says “wiff” instead of “with,” it still sounds ignorant .
That’s
thilly
We din’t do nuffin.
If that sound disappears, how will lispers lisp?
Poor Lindsey!
‘Th’ is racist.
Dat da FAKD.
The ‘th’ sounds, there are two of them, are rare in the world’s languages. Most adult foreigners are never able to master them.
So Brits are going to start talking like New Yorkers? Irish immigrants couldn’t pronounce the ‘th’ which is why New Yorkers used to say ‘turty-turd-and-turd” rather than thirty third and third. But that changed over the years and it’s rare to hear that accent anymore.
Hasn’t the ‘d’ and ‘th’ already disappeared in ‘Murcan ghettos?
ie: ‘Dindu Nuffin!’
And this from multi-generational ‘Murcans. (Granted, I’m talking about feral hoodrats, but I guess that is equivalent to the immigrants in London.)
The name ‘Anthony’ is pronounced ‘Antony’ in Britain. But there is still a ‘th’ sound in some words with ‘th’.
No more lithping?
Linguists have also predicted that the future direction of English will be determined in India, simply by the sheer number of speakers.
Soon we will all be doing the needful.
Girlie-Boys like 0bama lisp “S” already.
