Oklahoma mother, daughter arrested after alleged incestuous marriage

DUNCAN, Okla. – A mother and daughter from Oklahoma are accused of having an incestuous marriage.

Patricia Spann, 43, and Misty Spann, 25, were married in March 2016 in Comanche County, court records show.

Police say Patricia is Misty’s biological mother.

Investigators with the Department of Human Services discovered the illegal relationship in August while investigating the children who were inside the Spanns’ home.

i think people are missing the point. It could be for a number of reasons...taxes, insurance, etc etc. I would bet that they're trying to take full advantage of the fact that according to the US government there IS no hard and fast definition of marriage.

If I was single man living with a disabled brother for example I could "marry" him so that I wouldn't pay no inheritance tax....or that I could put him on my insurance. These people are probably trying to take advantage of the monster the government has created.

An attorney in Oklahoma should take the case and just cite Obergefell v. Hodges. It seems that all the arguments made there in favor of gay marriage could be made for incestuous marriages (as well as bigamous, interspecies, etc.). It's just a matter of time.
