NEW DELHI: Army has brought out heavy artillery to fight the growing problem of obesity within its ranks. A new set of instructions said overweight personnel were a "public embarrassment due to slovenly appearance in uniform".

The US Navy revises their weight standards to allow overweight sailors to stay in, India on the other hand, drops the hammer !

While in the AF we had the yearly confidence run to check our fitness, you could also walk it if you wanted.
We had had a chain smoker drinking a cup of coffee pass it easily.

While in the AF we had the yearly confidence run to check our fitness, you could also walk it if you wanted. If an AF person gets an "excellent" score on their PT, they do not have to take it for another year. OTOH, Army personnel have to take the PT test every 6 months regardless of their score.
As I like to say, the AF gives time off for good behavior.

No, it’s not. 1.5 mile run, X pushups (41 for me to max out the last PT test before I retired) and x crunches (47). You can only do the walk now if you have a doc’s note that you can’t run, and they’re not accepting notes wholesale like they used to. And about damn time.
