I call it “making biscuits,” and it’s definitely a sign of affection. Misty and Deimos are middle-aged and both still do it, the former more so than the latter.

I have a couple of feral black cat brothers that show up every day on the porch for meals. I call them the black brothers.

I am glad to hear it. She still has her claws. . .an indoor outdoor farm cat.

The video is public. Are you using a wifi hotspot that blocks youtube.com?

” It’s a sign of affection.”

I think it’s more a sign of trust and comfort. Kittens knead momma kitty’s tummy to stimulate her to produce milk.

It’s a reflex that they instinctively do to stimulate the flow of milk when they’re nursing on mama kitty when they’re babies. It’s like their affection for you reminds them of their affection for their mamas and they just automatically do it w/o knowing why. That’s why I call it the “milk-march”. It’s really endearing.

Since she’s a former stray I don’t know. Given that she weighs 10 pounds, though, it seems unlikely.

Misty and Deimos are just so beautiful, and I am delighted to
see them interacting. Thank you for the delightful video.

Wish you would keep me on your ping lists, however many there
are, because I always enjoy whatever you post and have to say.

I’m very happy to see you as well. You showed me the ropes
when I got here on October 8, 2000, and you kept silly old me
out of trouble and made sure I never got banned. You’re just
the best, Mr. Slings and Arrows.
