This was mine,The Carpenters - We've Only Just Begun (Live 1970)
Royal Scam - Steely Dan
Hold your head up - Argent
I grew up in the 70’s and I can’t stand 70’s music. The only song I can think of that I do like is from 1979. Heart of Glass, by Blondie. I consider that song to be the beginning of the music Renaissance that was the 80’s. By comparison, I consider the 70’s to be the Dark Ages of music. And I consider the 90’s to be the Golden Age of music.

Hope I have that one right. ;-)
My fav nonsense song from that time is “Brand New Key”-I associate it with a very happy time...
I still can't find my favorite web site, sent to me by my younger sister who has lived in Costa Rica over 40 years, now....
Long story.
What?!
Heart (Ann & Nancy Wilson) was founded in 1974, and hit it big with their Dreamboat Annie album.
Big hits: Magic man, and Baracudda were around 1977.
RE: “Heart was 90s, not 70s.”
And the album that gets me going is an obscure one, but with an unparalleled quality of rock/jazz fusion:
“Gypsy” a double album by the group of the same name, with songs such as this:

They were from Minneapolis and not well-marketed, and then their genius, Enrico Rosenbaum, went off rails and died very young. Some of the coolest stuff I’ve ever heard.
Ride Captain Ride - Blues Image
Reflections of My Life - The Marmalade
Six-way tie ...
Freebird '73
Layla '70
Allman's Live @ the Filmore East '70
The Joker '74
Stayin Alive '78
Woodstock!!
That’s a GREAT song but this is an INCREDIBLY hard question to answer with Deep Purple, Zep, Aerosmith, Chicago, Queen and a bunch other in there!!
I’m 48 but I’m PRETTY SURE it was written in the 70s, Rock N Roll by Zep.
Glad to see somebody else who can read that the subject is 1970. For those who insist on other years, here’s a list of the top 100 ( plus 20 ) for the entire 1970s.
An extraordinary album with lyrics that describe the people one would meet after 2am. Special mention to "Step Right Up" whose lyrics are from old TV commercials
"Step Right Up" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGShQsxiy1c
Equal parts jazz and "beatnik" lyrics and music with a LOT of dark sarcasm thrown in.
As an aside, Tom Waits played the pawn shop owner in the film "Book of Eli"
Across the Universe. The Beatles
Badfinger - Come And Get It
Marmalade - Reflections Of My Life
Sugarloaf - Green-Eyed Lady
Crabby Appleton - Go Back
Pink Floyd - Ibiza Bar
Ides Of March - Vehicle
Anything from Led Zeppelin III.
