Best album of the 1970's goes to Tom Waits', "Small Change" - a true masterpiece. It also featured a young Cassandra Peterson before she became "Elvira"

An extraordinary album with lyrics that describe the people one would meet after 2am. Special mention to "Step Right Up" whose lyrics are from old TV commercials

Equal parts jazz and "beatnik" lyrics and music with a LOT of dark sarcasm thrown in.

As an aside, Tom Waits played the pawn shop owner in the film "Book of Eli"
