I hear good things about the Clinton Family Foundation. I have too. Unlike the others, when you donate to them, it all really does go to a family.

Lots of great suggestions from all the freezers....
Point is, find a charity that fits your interests....

Anything but Kars4Kids... those ear-splitting commercials should earn them a stay in Guantanamo, not donations!

Last Christmas we gave the family cards with “A donation was made in your name to the Human Fund” We made a logo for it too. “The Human Fund-Money for people.” with hands in a circle. Nobody caught on.

Not your fault. Have you heard it? It's about donating your car to the NRA. They start out with this spiel about how our military supplies were cut off during WW2 and that farmers were donating their tractors for scrap drives. How nuts is that? First of all, in reading the back history of WW2 aluminum scrap drives were all propaganda. We had all aluminum bauxite we would need; that whole scrap drive thing was to get Americans involved in the war, show England we were committed; farmers wouldn't be donating their tractors because how would they raise crops for the military/populace.
Anyway, that's my take on it.

I donated a boat to the Salvation Army, and they took an old truck from a neighbor. That was about 10 years ago.

But can one actually call them up and some benefit to the NRA results?

Whatever you choose, check them on Charity Navigator. That site is occasionally misleading (some charities coordinate volunteer activity, so the money is spent on overhead, and that is what you want), but they do a good job overall if you keep that in mind.

I think the NRA just farms out whatever adverts they want, maybe they proof read/listen to them. Dunno. If you’re talking about the advert and call them up or email I imagine you’ll receive some boilerplate email or a “thanks for calling, bye”

There are several good organizations requesting donated cars. What they do is sell them on the wholesale market and use the money in the support of their charitable work. Just be careful and investigate those that are asking. Lots of charlatans out there.
