Michael Phelps gave his baby son Boomer a kiss as he added two more Olympic gold medals to his record total on Tuesday night after leading Team USA to victory in the 4x200 freestyle relay less than an hour after defeating his arch nemesis Chad Le Clos.
Phelps made up for one of the rare losses in his brilliant career by seeing off rival Le Clos to win the men's 200m butterfly - and his twentieth Olympic gold medal, which he later admitted it was 'revenge' for 2012.
'There was so much emotion and so much build up for that race,' Phelps later said of the race. 'I don't want to say it's revenge, but that's what it was.'
The most decorated Olympian in history has apparently never forgiven the South African upstart for prizing away 'his' title in the event by five hundredths of a second in London 2012.

Heh, reminds me of when I was a kid, and the USS New Jersey came into port. Back in the day, they used to have a Marine Detachment on the vessel, and in port, the marine would be standing at parade rest in his blue dress C’s, and I think it was a Garand he had.
He would stand there for hours at parade rest, one hand behind his back, the other stretched out holding the barrel in front of him. He was rigid, erect, and his eyes stared unblinkingly to the front, his mouth set.
They would stand there unblinking, unmoving for hours. We were fascinated. We sometimes ran up and poked them in the belly with our finger, or would make faces in front of him to get the sentry to move, but he never would. We were awed.
LOL, in retrospect, we were lucky he didn’t shoot us, but he knew-we were just stupid kids!
Personally, I’m not all that impressed. The guy is now competing in his fourth Olympics This was basically unheard-of for Olympic athletes in the past ... since they were real amateurs and got on with their lives after competing once or twice.
He actually named his kid “Boomer”?
As in Baby Boomer?
But does he like fishsticks?
After Boomer Esiason? He played QB at the U of Maryland and Phelps is from the Baltimore area. Just guessing...
Yep, and rumor has it he drinks beer too......Just think how good he could have been had he not been caught on camera smoking weed. Another life destroyed by pot.
Greatest olympian ever.....What makes his feat even more amazing is the fact that for every medal event he's entered in, he had to also swim a prelim....So that's two races per event. And at that age you have to marvel at his ability to recover enough for the next event.
I saw him swim the final leg of the 4 x 200 and he could barely climb out of the pool.
From what I have observed, propriety is a completely foreign concept for younger people, even those who claim the name of Christ. There is no shame in living together and the value of marriage has been diminished.
It’s sad, really. I’m sure he would be baffled were anyone to tell him he should’ve quietly married as soon as they learned she was pregnant. It’s a gross ignorance of God’s word. Thankfully, God is merciful and we grow in knowledge and wisdom as we walk with Christ. It takes time and study to mature in faith.
Ha, now that is funny......
If I could perform at that level and still smoke pot, I’d smoke pot every day!
Well said.
Ray Lewis gave him the book and is still his mentor in Christ.
[That vulnerable little baby needs a good Christian father at home with his wife. As a Christian, he is setting a terrible example parading around with his fiance and baby.]
PHELPS needs to grow in the LORD. Pray for him.
I really believe that Michael Phelps is part fish. LOL
...
He does have an unusual combination of physical attributes that help.
You don't spit into the wind.
You don't tug on Superman's cape.
You don't pull the mask off the ol' Lone Ranger ...
And you don't do a stupid warm-up twerk in Michael Phelps's face in the ready room.
He went through rehab and found Christ, with the help of a Christian athlete friend....
***
I am glad about that, but I hope the friend is also urging him to marry the mother of his child.
Can’t take away from him that he is an amazing athlete. Go, Michael, go!
