An Illinois college has restricted certain sections of a mandatory introductory course to black students.
While helping my son register for college at Moraine Valley Community College, we noticed that the required course College 101 has two sections limited to African-American students," one concerned parent told The Chicago Tribune. "He wants to know why there are not two sections limited to Asian-American students? How about Native American students?"
This segregation of students by race seems odd, especially considering the courses emphasis on diversity.
But Jessica Crotty, Moraines assistant director of communications, made the case for segregation, saying the school periodically reserves certain course offerings for various demographics of students, including veterans.
Sometimes we set aside sections for specific populations, including veterans and older students, Crotty noted.
"The focus can be on specific issues they face," she explained. "For example, veterans face a specific set of challenges. Students feel comfortable and are more likely to open up because they're with other students who are like them."
Conversely, Michael Olivas, acting president of University of Houston Downtown, told Inside Higher Ed that he feels such exclusionary program offerings are misguided, however pure the intentions behind them may be.
I think its ill-advised, arguably subject to legal challenge, and you dont want to wave the flag in front of the bull, he argued, saying that even support services targeted at specific demographics should be available to all students to avoid creating potentially counterproductive perceptions.
[College 101] provides an opportunity to assess your purpose for college, assess your study strategies, set college and career goals, examine your values and decision-making skills, and develop an appreciation for diversity, the course catalog states.

Democrats have always been big proponents of segregation. Democrats instituted the Jim Crow laws and filibustered the Civil Rights Act. George Wallace was a Democrat when he said “I say segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever.”
After LBJ, Democrats discovered that the best way to keep blacks on the Democrat plantation was to enact social welfare policies that would destroy black families and keep them forever dependent on welfare.
Segregation is still very important to Democrats, however, because you cannot racially gerrymand Democrat voting districts if the black voters are not segregated.
When I taught there, there were not enough blacks to make a class. In fact, I do not remember having a black student.
Southern Illinois University has a white professor teaching black lit. I think he headed the deptartment at one time:

A real piece of work who tried to screw me royal.
Anna Jackson is a lecturer there. One of her high school students in my class told me Martin Luther King was president and freed the slaves. I never had a student of hers that was literate yet SIU pawned her off as some great mind.
My guess? when the handouts stop. But they never will.
That’s racist!!!

When Will blacks see that democrats think they are morons?
Helps if grading on a curve, eh?
“But Jessica Crotty, Moraines assistant director of communications, made the case for segregation, saying the school periodically reserves certain course offerings for various demographics of students, including veterans. Sometimes we set aside sections for specific populations...”
Jot this down for when your kids ask you what’s the difference between “an excuse” and “an explanation.” All she did here was give the definition of segregation.
I guess it is taught in ebonics.
For some reason, I don’t really care if the class is “black only.”
Neither do I, but it is worthy to point out the hypocrisy of those who slam things that they perceive as not being diverse, which really means “too many white males”.
Sounds like racism to me.

You're right. For some reason, it's all right for non-whites to be with their own kind, but if a white person, especially a male, does, he is labeled a racist.
You, I, and my parents, and my parents’ parents didn’t care, but somebody cared enough a few decades ago to shoot George Wallace over it.
They cared enough to strike down Plessy v. Ferguson in favor of Brown vs. Board of Education.
They cared enough to destroy a new political party.
They cared enough to bus entire neighborhoods to different schools in Boston, thereby negating the movement of families trying to get away from rising crime rates and degradation of schools.
I agree. Perhaps the university should set it up so blacks have ALL their own classes, no whites allowed! You know, separate but equal... Idiot dems would love it...
Forgive my naivete, but if I were a young, black student seeing this at the registration table, I might be tempted to ask why you are segregating us from the rest of the population.
As I write the above, I realize that that is so far out of touch with the intellectual conditioning young blacks are receiving today. Please ignore the above speculation.
State and court-ordered segregation will soon be back, just reversed.
If they were to do this for white college courses it would be called racist and a success.
Very Thoughtful.....
God Bless ya!
