A Google employee from New York City who disappeared on an afternoon jog while visiting her mother in Massachusetts has been found murdered in the woods.
Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said Monday that 27-year-old Vanessa Marcotte was reported missing after failing to return from a run between 1pm and 4pm in Princeton.
Her body was discovered at around 8.20pm Sunday by a state police K9 unit near Brooks Station Road, about a half-mile from her mother's home.
A source told Fox25 in Boston that investigators were examining the possibility that Marcotte was sexually assaulted and set on fire, with burns to her hands, head and feet.

Really, no humanity. No one deserves that.

And I wonder if setting fire to her hands, her feet, and her head was an attempt to make it more difficult to identify her once the body was found. I am thinking about finger prints and dental records. Don’t know how the feet would matter for ID, though.
Horrible case. Prayers up for her family.

Serial killers are vicious and usually random. That’s why they’re so hard to catch.

This year especially, so yes. I can’t believe I survived Zero. I almost certainly will not survive President Hillary’s attempt to enact civilian disarmament. So you can see how I feel my life is on the line here. If you don’t then one of us is wrong. I hope it’s me but I am betting it is you.

I’d guess it was some sort of bizzarro ritual.

Agreed. I am thinking the likelihood of a 27 y.o. New York resident, visiting family in Massachusetts, and having a lawfully-owned handgun that could be legally-carried, and having it so that it could be rapidly deployed while out jogging...is a pretty slim chance. It was over 95* F recently, she was probably in a running singlet and nylon running shorts.
I concur it is not her fault she was victimized. It is challenging to remain in "Condition Yellow" for sustained periods of time, especially for young people who may have never encountered challenging situations prior.

I have been told one cannot own or carry a gun in Massachusetts. I cannot even drive through your state with a gun broken down in my trunk.

By rat do you mean “spy” or “undercover”?
I think some folks misunderstood what you meant.
Regardless, it’s a heartbreaking story. I pray justice is swift for whoever did this unspeakable act.

I wonder if DNA technology is advanced enough to identify race, region, ethnicity... ?
We have the technology to store every human's DNA and match with a sample, as we do with finger-prints.

In my town the police are very pro-2A and make the process as easy as possible under the law. Other towns don’t issue carry permits, period. Most towns are in the middle — although the process is more of a PITA than most states, it’s still perfectly doable for most people to get a carry license. The main reason most people don’t own/carry firearms here is simply because they don’t want to. There is no gun culture such as it exists in more conservative areas of the country.
