Michelle Obama stepped out in festive summer style.

The first lady rocked a pair of Fendi heels alongside President Barack Obama and her daughters Malia and Sasha in Washington, D.C. when they departed for Martha’s Vineyard, Mass. to enjoy their annual family vacation.

The label’s colorblock Flowerland calf leather sandals were an apt statement shoe for a sunny getaway, featuring playful floral applique with metallic enameled studs.

Chic and sensible, the design treatments include a low 2.25-inch block heel, a padded footbed and an adjustable halter ankle-wrap strap.

It looks like, at the angle we’re seeing, the shoe isn’t large enough for her feet. Another issue is her bulk. That’s a whole lot of pressure on her feet. She needs more solid shoes for support.

The low heel is cute, as is the appliqué (tho not $900 cute). For actual walking, oh my. That very stiff front band will uncomfortable (as the foot slides), but the stiff strap around the ankle...its going to rub with each step causing like a brush burn on the ankle or worse, some blisters.

I just don’t understand “fashion.”

Don’t I know it, I have to watch carefully what type of shoes I buy for that reason, I don’t want to fall and break a hip or ankle. I buy only low wedges or flats that don’t wobble and have rubber soles.
