CLEVELAND, Ohio — Presidential candidate Donald Trump called Cleveland police Chief Calvin Williams on Friday afternoon to thank the department for its work patrolling this year's Republican National Convention.
Williams received the call outside the Quicken Loans Arena, when the officers who worked as a bike patrol were gathered for photos and a media availability. Several officers crowded around the chief when Trump made the call, and Williams put the candidate on speakerphone.
"He just wanted to thank us, the Cleveland Division of Police and law enforcement here, for a nice safe week for everybody," Williams said. "That it wasn't like people predicted. Even not like he predicted."

They did do an OUTSTANDING job in Cleveland. None of the death and destruction predicted by the liberal national “media” ever materialized. Awesome job guys.

Cleveland PD did great..I didnt think things would go so smoothly especially after the murders of the cops in LA..really thought something bad would happen at the Convention, everyone stayed safe that is what matters, Bravo Cleveland PD and God Bless!
Actually it wasn’t the Patriot Guard. It was Bikers for Trump. Certainly PGR members were there, but not under the PGR banner.
There could be trouble in the streets for sure.

Two dozen arrests, mostly misdemeanors. Pretty impressive. Nobody was expecting this mild of a convention.
OH is pretty much safely Republican except for Cleveland’s vote. If Trump can cut into that with a lot of good vibes continuing with the Mayor and Police Chief, it could shift enough votes to win the state.
I really believe the presence of Patriot Guard riders, and open-carry citizens, deterred the flag-burners, #CrackLivesMatters crowd, and the other Leftist loonies from ruining the GOP convention.
