I voted for Cruz in the primaries, although I agonized long and hard over my choice. But I never had any objection to Trump, and if I hadn’t voted for Cruz, he would have been the one.
I don’t regret my vote for Cruz: I thought it was the best choice at the time. But I’m totally on the Trump train as it leaves the station en route to the White House.
Where have you been? Cruz is considered worse than Hillary, and proven a serial killer. Also, now you can’t be considered conservative if you are against gay marriage.
Hillary, Cruz and Jeb.
All in the same bed.
Chiming in. Supported Cruz from the second Palin endorsed him for Senate. Then, all of a sudden, after two years of perfect ground game preparation, donor network establishment, and saying all the right things, he completely imploded just before the voting started.
Hooking up with that whack-job Beck.
Telling Carson supporters he had dropped out in Iowa.
Having that whack-job Beck issue the Oath of Office all the time.
Calling on Trump to release his IRS records, you know, the agency Ted said was tyrannical and he wanted to do away with.
Continuing to hang out with that whack-job Beck.
Releasing a tax plan that still required the IRS and added in the dreaded VAT.
Lying about lying on his SEC form regarding his Goldman-Sucks loan.
Claiming he didn’t know he was a Canadian citizen.
From all accounts, obviously having an affair with a campaign staffer.
Staying in the primary race well past his sellout-by date.
Did I mention hanging out with that whack-job Beck?
And for his final act finale, dragging on for more than twice as long as he was scheduled (just like a liberal) and never endorsing the candidate despite his signed promise to do so.
I now feel insulted by him lying to me for several years about who he was, since all these things reveal a character flawed to the core, and I’m so glad Trump had his mic cut last night.
I was a die hard Cruzer until the very bitter end as my posting history will attest.
After last night, I neither support or criticize him. I don’t support him at this time because in my opinion he should have endorsed Trump. He didn’t have to say anything more than “I endorse Donald Trump because...” and then listed a litany of sins the Beast has committed, a list that wouldn’t have been that difficult to compose.
But I don’t criticize him any further because as I stated this morning on the thread announcing his refusal to endorse Trump, he will go down in history as the biggest sore loser ever or a political genius for forseeing a horrible Trump presidency.
I am comfortable, and have a clear conscience, voting for Donald Trump, as there is no other reasonable choice at this time. I do not hold out much expectation for him, other than he must expel as many illegals as possible, and at least try to build the wall. Everything else he promised I recognize as campaign bravado which is precisely worthless. I am not deluded; I do not believe him to be the next savior of conservatism, as some clearly believe.
Truthfully, I do honestly believe Trump is more conservative than he initially appeared, and he won’t damage the country if elected, but he will not further the cause of conservatism much if elected. Anyone who disagrees is in for a rude awakening after Jan 21.
So I let history be Ted Cruz’s judge now. Because I see no reason to totally abandon him until proven conclusively wrong with historical fact. If the fact is Trump is as I described above (or hopefully better) Ted Cruz is dead to me. If not, if Trump proves to be worse, as clearly Ted Cruz believes, I suspect Trump’s strongest advocates around here will conveniently disappear.
Any Texan should understand that a Texan can not and will not ‘endorse’ someone who said his wife is ugly.
In my book, Cruz should just take Trump behind the barn and beat the ugliness of his character out of him.
That said, I will vote for Trump as Hillary is out of the question.
I am a Cruz supporter and will vote for Trump enthusiastically. Would I write in Cruz?
No because the election is not about me but it is about the country and its future direction.
The competitors were not required to endorse Trump and Ted took that route. Trump was fine with that.
I think Ted will be back, he is young and this is his first run.
I am looking forward to voting for him.
I supported Ted over Trump and I still would. Trump reminded me of Obama. The vitriol for anyone who didn’t support Trump, especially Cruz supporters, were enough to send them packing away from Trump regardless if he one. Attempting to destroy one who disagrees with you won’t win allies in the fight against the democrats. You can already read some remarks in this thread that there is still a contempt for Cruz and his supporters. Trump approved Cruz’s speech but his people were out working the crowd to get the boos and jeers he wanted for the show. I’ll still vote for Trump but not out of a sense of devotion.
I was born in England. I went to grade, middle and high school in Texas. I started college in Texas. I joined the military in Texas. Why is Cruz a Texan?
These kinds of threads are unhelpful to the cause and need to stop.
Whatever you may think of Romney, he was right about one thing: The Enemy starts with a base somewhere around 47%. We are going to need every vote for Trump we can get, and gloating is not going to get any. Cruz lost, Trump won. Try to behave like a winner.
I supported Cruz until the day he withdrew, and I still believe his policy prescriptions are far better than Trump's.
But when Cruz decided to welsh on his pledge to support the candidate, the only decent course of action was to stay out of Cleveland and shut up.
He failed to do that, and I can no longer support him in future.
Trumpholes swarm at any post or comment even mildly critical of their Orange God. FR isn’t as bad as Gateway Pundit, Conservative Treehouse, or Breitbart, but it’s getting there. I’m spending more time at Right Scoop, Moonbattery and Red state these days.
I’m a Cruz supporter. I just don’t come to FR all that often any more due to the vitriol.
Yes, in November I’ll probably vote for Trump over Hillary. But to me it’s like voting for death by burning or death by lethal injection. Yes if it came down to it, one is clearly more preferable than the other, but in the end both option are pretty horrible.
I am still a Ted Cruz supporter but I will vote for Trump. For those on this site who are claiming that he committed political suicide ask yourself this:
If Trump/Pence wins and they are as successful as we hope and Trump runs for re-election, what chance would Ted have anyway in 2020? If Trump decides not to run then the obvious replacement would be Pence. So effectively Ted’s chances at the Whitehouse is 12-16 years out.
Also, why do any of the hardcore Trump supporters here who have made a game out of trashing Ted and his family really care if he supports Trump. I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around that. Were any of you going to pop open the champagne and say “Yeah we got Lyin Ted to endorse Trump”?
Politics is a blood sport and there is no denying that there is bad blood between Ted and Trump. Even today, Trump is out making statements about NATO that give some people pause, or other statements that he will go it alone as a free agent if the republicans lose the senate and the house. So I get trashed as some anti-Trump guy because I am concerned when I hear these things?
I still like Ted but, he lost and time to fight with the guy we got.
Not at all who I would have chosen but, he ain’t no dipshit Romney.
He’s embarrassed them enough, why pile on?
A deluded lot.
While I used to be angry at them, I now feel sorry for them.
They are no different than a Jim Jones supporter. Or Westboro Baptist.
Creepy sad.
i’m here, I voted for Ted in the NH primary.
Ted is great in the Senate. One of the few who would make a stand against the rubber stamping of what ever Obama wanted. I’ve liked him since he went to DC.
I guess he took great offense at Trumps personal attackes and will not just smile and say “whatever”.
If he looses in 2018 during reelection it will be sad and a great loss.
If Trump wins in Nov. I sure hope he does what he says otherwise i can see the FR world turn on him like the did on Cruz.
I don’t have TV so i don’t know what he said, but a man has a right to his opinion and we should’nt be crapping all over him like this.
His vote will be needed in the next few years.
All of my pro-Cruz friends texted and/or emailed me last night after Cruz was being loudly booed off the stage. All said they were very angry at Cruz, and now consider him TOXIC. Stick a fork in him... He’s done!
I was all in for Ted...Gave him money and supported him...He lost and Trump won...IMHO Ted should have endorsed...Missed opportunity to unite to defeat hildabeast...I’m behind Trump now 100%...HRC absolutely must be defeated, and that’s the priority...For the future, memories are short and time will tell...
