I am still a Ted Cruz supporter but I will vote for Trump. For those on this site who are claiming that he committed political suicide ask yourself this:

If Trump/Pence wins and they are as successful as we hope and Trump runs for re-election, what chance would Ted have anyway in 2020? If Trump decides not to run then the obvious replacement would be Pence. So effectively Ted’s chances at the Whitehouse is 12-16 years out.

Also, why do any of the hardcore Trump supporters here who have made a game out of trashing Ted and his family really care if he supports Trump. I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around that. Were any of you going to pop open the champagne and say “Yeah we got Lyin Ted to endorse Trump”?

Politics is a blood sport and there is no denying that there is bad blood between Ted and Trump. Even today, Trump is out making statements about NATO that give some people pause, or other statements that he will go it alone as a free agent if the republicans lose the senate and the house. So I get trashed as some anti-Trump guy because I am concerned when I hear these things?

I agree on all of that.

You are right. And a lot of people are prone to downplay the ‘trash-talk’ as it does seem to be part of our normal, debased culture these days. But the further west you go, the more seriously folks tend to take words, especially when it involves their family.

Honestly, I could never imagine Cruz ‘endorsing’ Trump after the things that were said. And this is totally separate from all the politcal wrangling and the various dumb misteps Cruz made along the way.

The story dropped precipitously from all media sources...the photo shows what might have been a chance circumstance with Oswald in the photo but Cruz’s dad might have been CIA(he certainly got around all over the place when he was younger)! Ted Cruz shut up and the story just disappeared...! The details would be considered still classified and “calls would have been made”!

Without any sarcasm, I do want to thank the Cruz supporters who will vote for Trump and against Clinton, and for saying so here. Thanks!

+1

The point is that Cruz is trying to get Hillary elected this year so that he can run against her in 2020 rather than having to wait 12-16 years if Trump wins.

think Cruz finally stepped so far over the line that even his hard core supporters have had to rethink him.

He proved that "Lyin' Ted" is apropos and has rendered himself as trustworthy as Crooked Hillary....

I WAS a Cruz supporter. He lost me with the stunt he pulled in Iowa. It was legal but morally wrong.

- This does NOT hurt Trump, but does show poor judgment on Trump’s part.
.............................................................
NOT in my book! Trump proved how much smarter he is than Ted Cruz. Trump graciously gave Cruz the opportunity to join the team to defeat Hillery.
RISK is what people in the REAL WORLD deal with every day. The superior mind takes calculated risks because that’s the way the real world works. Only death and taxes are guaranteed. Trumps excellent judgement was proven. He gave Cruz the opportunity and at the same time he gave Cruz enough rope to hang himself. Cruz’ arrogance lead him to put the noose around his own neck.
Trump won either way! Can you imagine the petulant little child Cruz trying to deal with the hardnoses of the world? They’d make mashed potatoes out of him!
Trump is sooooooooooooooo much smarter than Cruz. He’s the winner this country needs. He doesn’t run for shelter if things go wrong, he just keeps fighting through! Reminds me of Patton.

Because he is still brilliant, still has the best grasp IMO of our problems, and is one of the rare candidates who even mentions the constitution. I liked his issue oriented speech. Reagan did not endorse Ford in 76.

From the moment Cruz hired Jeff Roe to be his campaign manager, any informed person knew it would be dirty. That’s the only kind of campaign Roe knows how to run: win at any price. Roe’s dirty tricks work best at the state level, though. On the national level, with fifty states in play, voters catch on to Roe’s sleazy tactics before the campaign is over. Thankfully most voters eventually caught on to Cruz’ underhanded moves, and rejected him.

“Did you really believe that a proud, Texan male could endorse a guy who called him Lyin’ Ted and attacked his family?”

A “proud, Texan male”? “Proud?” Certainly. “Texan”? Actually, Cuban/Canadian. “Male”? Ask Amanda Carpenter.

“Lyin’ Ted”. He is a pathological liar. Worse, even, than Gore.

“attacked his (Cruz’) family”. He didn’t.

If any of those things had happened, which they didn’t, when the future of America, and freedom for your children, is at stake, you quit whining and endorse the best candidate on the ballot in November.

You Trump supporters are downright mean ...
............................................................
The presidency of the united States REQUIRES someone who can handle adversity. Obviously, Cruz would trail around his crying towel blanket like Linus and whine that someone was just being mean.
A true conservative respects the Constitution and does not try to hoodwink the American people into believing a Cuban-Canadian is eligible. A true conservative does NOT vote AGAINST American Sovereignty. A true conservative is not a supporter of Globalism!
I think you need to do some research untainted by Cruz’ lies.

I was a very early and ardent supporter of Ted Cruz. I was disappointed when Trump beat him in the primaries - but hey, guess what? Life is full of disappointments. Trump got more votes. That’s how it works.

Cruz was granted a golden opportunity to speak at the RNC last night. Golden.

And he whiffed.

All he had to do was show a little class, a little grace, and a little humility. After all, he’s a young man. His time could come in just 8 years. Just do the right thing. Just put the fate of the country ahead of your own personal ambitions. Just Take One For The Team.

But noooooooooooo.

He had to let his ego rule his supposedly considerable intellect. On the biggest stage of his career, he showed himself to be a small man.

He blew it.
