I transcribed the relevant part of the interview.
CUOMO: Who takes the fall for cribbing Michelle Obama's speech in 2008? Whose fault is that?
MANAFORT: Well, there's no cribbing of Michelle Obama's speech. These were common words and values that she cares about her family, that uh, that things like that. I mean, she was speaking in front of 35 million people last night - she knew that. I mean, to think that she would be cribbing Michelle Obama's words is crazy. I mean it's so, I mean once again, an example of a when a woman threatens Hillary Clinton how she seeks out to demean her and take her down. It's not going to work.
CUOMO: All I'm saying is the language is strikingly similar. I'm not making a big deal of it; I know everybody is talking about it this morning, but I don't think it's an allegation, it's not some suggestion without proof. I don't know why the campaign doesn't just own it and say people borrow phrases, that's what happened, and movie on? That's what, ironically, Obama did in 2008 when Clinton said he cribbed from Deval Patrick. He said, "Yeah, you're right, I did it."
MANAFORT: No, no he did do it. That's correct. But in this particular case, you know, there was a process certainly of collaboration that.. Certainly there's no feeling on her part that she did it. You know, what she did was use words that are common words, and to expect her to, to think that she would do something like that knowing how scrutinized her speech was going to be last night, is just really absurd.
CUOMO: Right, but again, that's assuming that it was Melania. I'm assuming that there were writers involved, but if that's the way you want to explain it, that's up to you. Let me ask you about something else.
The campaign said she wrote it with a team of writers, so I think she sat down with them and told them her thoughts, maybe wrote some lines herself, and this was added in. Manafort makes it clear here that Melania herself didn’t write this part.
Giving in to the left is how we got Obama. When our enimies are never called out on thier cribbing then punishing ourselves for it just stupid.
Just because I have to defend myself, doesn’t mean I’ve done anything wrong. It’s not to everybody. There are probably thousands of members of FR. There is one group of posters that attack me, certainly not the majority of this forum. Who do you think I support for President?
And who was recently hired as Trump’s communications adviser? A former Cruz aide.
Oh, look, it's another FReeper doing his part to put Hillary in the White House.
(emphasis added)
You have ABSOLUTELY NO WAY of knowing that, and your phrasing it thus strikes me as a bit of a slip-up, revelatory of some kind of agenda.
Thanks so much. You have made me feel better. It’s hard to believe you were attacked as you are one of Trump’s most enthusiastic supporters. I really appreciate your kind words.
Tempest in a teapot. Only the leftist media cares about this. The American people have far more important concerns.
“Who do you think I support for President?”
Not Donald Trump.
ALL of what I said is true, LOL.
The point you make in your post is correct also...speech writers will amplify on biographical material and other notes provided by the speaker-to-be.
To add to your observation, the speaker is always free to add or subtract to the speech-writer's end product as he/she sees fit.
However, she appears to have been reading a text provided for her based on her notes or whatever...it's basically irrelevant.
The syntax in the speech is not her style of speaking, so it leads me to my conclusion that she's completely innocent of any plagiarism charges....and that a campaign staff speech writer is the varlet here, either by deliberate sabotage or willful, sneaky laziness.
The sentences were definity cribbed, unless one has one's head in the sand like an ostrich!
I feel really bad for Melania.
Leni
Some of the phrases are identical or nearly identical and in the exact order of the speech. That’s all I’m saying.

For the record, Reince Priebus has said the speech writer should be fired. Why would Reince say that if he didn’t think it was copied? Reince is not up to any tricks. Trump has praised Reince.

Who then?
See 113. Reince said he would probably fire the speech writer.
Well, as to the matter at hand, absolutely. A big nothingburger.
But, they're looking for our guy's Achilles heel, something that can knock him off message, get him angry, and make him do something stupid.
Viewed in that light, we don't know yet how big of a deal this will become.
Whoops!
Sorry Liberals, Melania Trump Did Not Plagiarize Michelle Obamas Speech

DCGazette [ ] Did Melania use a few sentences that were similar to Michelle Obamas speech? Sure, but that is common. ALL First Lady speeches resonate the same universal concepts.
The fact is, you can go back and look at Laura Bushs speech, Nancy Reagan, and even Hillary when she was first lady and find the same type of comments.
In a speech Hillary Clinton gave in 2014 for the New American foundation. Hillary spoke of the same values saying,
my mother and father gave us a middle-class life with opportunities she never could have imagined for herself but which she always believed could be possible for her children. And that was a great gift that I will be forever grateful for, and then Bill and I of course worked hard to pass on those values to our daughter.
(In other words, passing on values to the next generation, like Michelle Obama said in 2008.)
Laura Bush said in her 2004 RNC speech,
If youre determined and you want to work hard, you can do anything you want to. Thats the beautiful thing about America.
(The same concept of Michelle Obamas speech in 2008.)
Even Ann Romneys speech hit the same notes in 2012
Mitt will be the first to tell you that he is the most fortunate man in the world. He had two loving parents who gave him strong values and taught him the value of work.
Hillary is actually the biggest offender when it comes to plagiarism, she plagiarized Bernie Sanders so often that the hashtag #StealTheBern was born. more here

Lol. Another Cruz loser begging to be noticed and basing their 2016 vote on their butthurt feelings.
Who knows? I see at 4:30AM you were on another thread about this subject and then felt compelled to post it yourself at 8:41 AM. So concerned. :-)
