New Dwarf Planet Discovered Far Beyond Pluto's Orbit

Pluto isn't quite as lonely as scientists had thought.

Astronomers have discovered another dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt, the ring of icy objects beyond Neptune. But this newfound world, dubbed 2015 RR245, is much more distant than Pluto, orbiting the sun once every 700 Earth years, scientists said. (Pluto completes one lap around the sun every 248 Earth years.)

"The icy worlds beyond Neptune trace how the giant planets formed and then moved out from the sun," discovery team member Michele Bannister, of the University of Victoria in British Columbia, said in a statement. "They let us piece together the history of our solar system."

...

The exact size of 2015 RR245 is not yet known, but the researchers think it's about 435 miles (700 kilometers) wide. Pluto is the largest resident of the Kuiper Belt, with a diameter of 1,474 miles (2,371 km).

The research team first spotted 2015 RR245 in February of this year, while poring over images that the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope in Hawaii took in September 2015 as part of the ongoing Outer Solar System Origins Survey (OSSOS).

"There it was on the screen — this dot of light moving so slowly that it had to be at least twice as far as Neptune from the sun," Bannister said.

I don’t want to go out in the cold, but I have to get the pills for my neck. It’s the same med they give to epileptics to stop the seizures, as they found that it allows nerves to function properly.

Topamax?

Or chasing a mouse. At my church, she could do both!

Ours is surrounded by woods and fields. Also, people leave food out in the kitchens. It’s great mouse habitat.

This one is called Gabapentin. I haven’t researched it.

Can cause blurry vision, at least it did in my mom.

DH might be going on something here soon. The peripheral neuropathy is getting worse

A lot of bugs attracted to your porch light?

Possibly an alien life form bug.

They seem very similar in appearance to a scale-insect in its foam bubble. Except lighter. And fluffier. And colder. And when captured in the hand they disappear leaving behind a drop of water-like excrement..

It is probably an invasion as they are mounding up on the ground in what looks to be an attack...

CFIDS causes blurry vision, so if the Gabapentin has caused it, I wouldn’t know! LOL!

My neuropathy has improved somewhat since I’ve been taking the stuff, but I doubt if I’ll ever get feeling back completely. I’m taking it for the nerves in my neck.

Sorry to hear about DH’s problem getting worse. I hate to see anybody lose feeling in any extremity.

Done. Except for making the bed. The wind is up, the clouds are coming, the barometer is dropping and its Monday. Ungh.

Is Thanksgiving really on Thursday? Without pumpkin pie, it will be just another day.

Charlie gave me a cheap little (new) DVD player, but with the mini-box, I have to have someone hook it up. Channels 3 and 4 are in use, so I don’t know what channel to use or how to set it up. The move to Utah can’t be too soon.

Hmm - the beeber says it is 39 and cloudy but feels like 31. Nothing about solidified globull warming in the professional guess.
