Pluto isn't quite as lonely as scientists had thought.
Astronomers have discovered another dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt, the ring of icy objects beyond Neptune. But this newfound world, dubbed 2015 RR245, is much more distant than Pluto, orbiting the sun once every 700 Earth years, scientists said. (Pluto completes one lap around the sun every 248 Earth years.)
"The icy worlds beyond Neptune trace how the giant planets formed and then moved out from the sun," discovery team member Michele Bannister, of the University of Victoria in British Columbia, said in a statement. "They let us piece together the history of our solar system."
...
The exact size of 2015 RR245 is not yet known, but the researchers think it's about 435 miles (700 kilometers) wide. Pluto is the largest resident of the Kuiper Belt, with a diameter of 1,474 miles (2,371 km).
The research team first spotted 2015 RR245 in February of this year, while poring over images that the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope in Hawaii took in September 2015 as part of the ongoing Outer Solar System Origins Survey (OSSOS).
"There it was on the screen this dot of light moving so slowly that it had to be at least twice as far as Neptune from the sun," Bannister said.

Good point. I did see some Daleks there.
Liberals do not believe there IS a relationship between their actions and the consequences. Consequences are all the fault of evil conservatives...
Soooooo cute!
Two Shay!
Gravity. It’s all the fault of evil conservatives.
How was your prison retreat?
As is entropy...
How was your prison retreat?
Not bad. We did receive the news that one of the attenders (who hasn't come for several years now, an action that always sends up flags) is back behind bars for a parole violation. The story that was related to us by him via letter sounds 'fishy' so the suspicion is that there is more to the story that he isn't willing to let the group know.
All in all though, over the 21 years we have been doing this the number of recidivists is small in comparison to the 'secular' (for want of a better descriptive) after care programs (counting this new revelation the total is three.) We have lost more numbers by 'promotion' - they went Home. ;-)
There are several new 'issues' that we are looking at that I will share with you privately if you're interested.
Is that yesterday’s youngling? So squee!
Off to do laundry,
Same mother, but another litter. Those people should get their momma cat spayed!
Good luck with the laundry. I’m having my usual trouble getting Offspring out of bed. Tom, who leaves for school before 7:00, came down and found his computer (and his Slytherin jacket) where I’d put them, in the corner by the staircase.
“Could you stop putting my things here?”
“Could you stop leaving your things on the table when you go to bed?”
*blank stare*
“No, I will not stop putting your things here.”

Here’s a very interesting piece.
Yes. I knew a girl that was the same way as Tom...leaving things lying around.
Done with the laundry, at least the washing part. Now I have to hang them. I was forced to use the front loader this morning and I hate that thing.
The motion light only works if one is within 15’ of the building. I should, in that case, put it on the inside of the patio support to give me light without having to turn on the porch light to see to put the key in the lock.
The moon is very beautiful this morning, in case anyone is interested.
And now, I need a steroid...
Thanks, I just bookmarked it. I generally find First Things valuable.
Yes, me too. I don’t always agree with a writer or with the editors, but that’s what life is like.
Books are like good medicine, each containing important life lessons which, if you're smart, you won't have to experience for yourself.
Good morning, everyone.
Anyone know how to get a suggestion to Trump’s transition team?
I’m thinking it would help heal the country for him to give Clinton a position in his government. And since she has experience at State I’m thinking Ambassador to Libya.
I probably would have replied. “Sure thing. Next time it’s in the trash.”
DONE with the laundry, until tomorrow morning when it has all dried. I just unlocked the clubhouse about 20 minutes early, but since someone stole the remote for the TV, it probably doesn’t even matter.
This must be Monday, but I don’t know what to do with it. I may have to have another breathing treatment before all is said and done in the next hour or so, but it is what it is. It’s worse when I stress, which is what I’m doing, but I don’t know why.
Maybe today is the day I get after the filing cabinet and get the stuff into boxes. Maybe. At least then I can get the boxes out of the way.
Good gravy. How much laundry do you HAVE???!!!
You’d be surprised!
