Pluto isn't quite as lonely as scientists had thought.
Astronomers have discovered another dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt, the ring of icy objects beyond Neptune. But this newfound world, dubbed 2015 RR245, is much more distant than Pluto, orbiting the sun once every 700 Earth years, scientists said. (Pluto completes one lap around the sun every 248 Earth years.)
"The icy worlds beyond Neptune trace how the giant planets formed and then moved out from the sun," discovery team member Michele Bannister, of the University of Victoria in British Columbia, said in a statement. "They let us piece together the history of our solar system."
...
The exact size of 2015 RR245 is not yet known, but the researchers think it's about 435 miles (700 kilometers) wide. Pluto is the largest resident of the Kuiper Belt, with a diameter of 1,474 miles (2,371 km).
The research team first spotted 2015 RR245 in February of this year, while poring over images that the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope in Hawaii took in September 2015 as part of the ongoing Outer Solar System Origins Survey (OSSOS).
"There it was on the screen this dot of light moving so slowly that it had to be at least twice as far as Neptune from the sun," Bannister said.

I don’t know how they’d put flashy rims on with 4X4 hubs...but I would love an awesome stereo and some really plush seats...I even have the color all picked out!
That are already available.
Pump up the Bling! :)
Must go, ‘Night.
My niece in Utah (one of many) has done a line drawing in the style of “Precious Moments,” of her granddaughter, Molly. She did one with wings and one without. I have asked her for a copy, and I will frame it and hang it up, or set it on an easel with the Molly Monkey beside it.
(I still can’t find a doll-sized “Frozen” gown and tiara.)
And, as a side note, if I can, one day this week, I will go to JoAnn’s and price out some fabric for the dress pattern I’m dying to make up. I found a spool of thread at Wally’s in the color I want, so all I need to do is find a fabric I can afford. And while the sewing machine is out, I will work on the Molly Monkey.
I want to get it done before I move. The dress AND the doll.
And, the ever surprising Richard came into the laundry room this morning and gave me two more Bibles! I suppose when I move, he will have to sell the ones he finds.
And now, without too much more fuss, I’m headed in the watch the blanket show.
Afternoon and good night, variously.
Tom the Son got the oil changed on the Avalon, and I wrote him a check for the cost. I went to the vet and got the cats’ drops. The cats have conveniently disappeared, but they’ll appear when they hear kitty-kibble rattle into the bowls.
The kids are about to have lasagna for supper. I’m having some chick Tom grilled before he left for his campout, which may be rained-upon.
Oh, YES! Great news!!! Thanks!
“It was just the 5th time through the same day.”
Wait. I’ve seen that movie...

I also understand it kills toenail fungus..
(It was only recently that the reason a major pharmacological company has been paying to license the formula was revealed..)
It didn’t.
And I think Tuesday is conspiring against me also...
Better living through eldritch chemistry.
LOL!
Beats my 21 hour Friday. At least you stayed on the ground, though...
What interesting eyes that kitteh has!
(I saw what you did...)
I’ll be going to Wally’s in a few minutes, as my mouth really wants that cheesecake! LOL!
It’s a very deep kitten!
Have fun at Walmart! I’ll have to go later: out of sugar for the hummingbirds, among other things.
I’m going to get a hummingbird thingy today. I can’t hang it on my porch as the wind hits it and I end up with nectar on the patio which the ants love. No thanks. But there is a tree in my yard with branches low enough that I can use them, and the one I have picked is well protected.
My list just kept growing till I had to transfer it to another piece of paper. Silly me.
Once again, I’m tired this morning. That’s something I never get used to, even after all these years.
And I’m outta here!
Or should I stay for the big one?
What say you?
OK!
