Today I went to a Peruvian restaurant and had my absolute favorite soup of all time. Parihuela. You can see the soup I had in the pic below. It is composed of shrimp, clams, mussels, prawn, crab, calamari, octopus, and special chilis. The liquid is a reddish color. The bowl I had was very large and had enough seafood in it to make a complete meal.
Garlic (ajo) is one of the ingredients.
This one seems to be different due to the color of the soup in the photos.

Looks like seafood paella without the delicious crunchy rice bits. Man I love good paella.
This guy makes a mean Valencia version, but I prefer the all seafood style.

You could substitute guinea pig for it.
Is that Peruvian for “Bait Soup”?
Vietnamese Pho and Chinese roast duck wonton noodle soup beat that Parihuela any day. The large heads on shrimp is impressive and that’s it.
Didn’t the Soup Nazi move to South America?
I’ve not seen so many bottom-feeders in one place since the last dumbocrat convention!
I think I would swap the octopus for okra.
When they visited us last weekend, they prepared some Peruvian ceviche.
Fresh fish (red snapper, in our case), thinly sliced red onion (transparent), finely crushed habanero and fresh lime juice. Chill and marinate for half-an-hour, serve.
Outstanding.
At what restaurant did you get it? It’s all in the preparation.
Cabo Blanco Peruvian restaurant. Ft. Lauderdale.
It looks like there’s still too much work to be done for that to be soup.
Looks like seafood gumbo. Yum.
“Soup’s not a meal”
You ain’t had my Baked Potato Soup.
"Cioppino is a fish stew originating in San Francisco, California. It is considered an Italian-American dish, and is related to various regional fish soups and stews of Italian cuisine. ...
Description
Cioppino is traditionally made from the catch of the day, which in San Francisco is typically a combination of Dungeness crab, clams, shrimp, scallops, squid, mussels, and fish all sourced from the Pacific Ocean. The seafood is then combined with fresh tomatoes in a wine sauce, and served with toasted bread, either local sourdough or French bread." - Wikipedia

It's the same. My soup was actually redder than what you saw in my photo. Lighting.
Y’know, a Peruvian restaurant opened near my office. Ratings so far are in the 3+ star range and I’ve been tempted to try it. I just looked at the menu and Parihuela is featured. I’ll have to round up a few of my more adventurous co-workers and try that soon - now that I can identify at least one menu item. :-)
Not so expensive. With GroupOn I can get a Parihuela and 5 glasses of beer for about $11 total.
