Initial reports from Dallas described multiple snipers with AR-15s #weaponsofwar. The ongoing propaganda theme among the tabloids is that the AR-15 has become the weapon of choice for terrorists and mass shooters. It turns out that the terrorist in Dallas question used an antique, the SKS, (according to CBS News) but the facts never keep the press from a good propaganda theme.
The SKS was designed in the 40s in Russia. It is such a basic rifle that it is legal in California with no modification. With its fixed ten round magazine, the SKS is everything that the gun haters in California say a rifle must be. It is not black, no pistol grip, no flash hider or folding stock. It even shoots a intermediate power cartridge, 7.63 X 39. It is used as a cheap hunting gun across the US. I am sure that at this moment, some law maker in California is writing new legislation to close the mad man with an antique rifle loophole.

Yup, that’d be one.
I have a Russian SKS just like the one at the link. Same finish and sling. It was part of the assault weapons ban because of the fixed bayonet.
It is a fine rifle and quite accurate right out of the box.
It is my second amendment weapon, that I have a large supply of ammo for. Should the need to defend my second amendment rights becomes necessary or if the reason that the second amendment was written for becomes necessary. (not hunting, lol)
I used to have one of those that I kept around as a "camp gun". One morning one of my bow hunting buddies looked out the window and told me that the Viet Cong groundhog that had been tearing up the horse pasture was up out of his hole in the ground feeding.
He was over a hundred yards from my camp, so I didn't use my bow on him. I grabbed the SKS in the corner and shot him, but the shot only wounded him, and he was obviously still alive.
I walked over to where he was, and it was clear I had to finish the job and end his suffering. Only problem was, I'd only put one round in the gun when I took my shot.
So I flipped out the folding bayonet and used that. Only time I ever used the bayonet. It worked.
During the Clinton years, I bought my first gun. It was an SKS. I paid $106 and bought 500 rounds. I still have 460 rounds left. And the gun. It’s actually pretty amazing. No recoil to speak of, but it can take down pretty much anything I point it it, if necessary.
“It was bad enough when all we had to screech about was the scary black rifle. Now we have a scary orange rifle to whimper and whine about too?
Two kinds of scary rifle? How will we ever keep all that straight!”
Answer: Orange is the new black.
“define coward.”
Yeah, no kidding. Shooting from concealment is...well, rather natural, and is certainly a sound tactic.
The shooter was a dirtbag, and I’m glad the robot blew him up, but the fact that he was in concealment does not equate to him being a coward.
So was the shooter moving quickly from one concealment place to another, so he would not be pinned down and so he could engage new targets? He did eventually find himself in a corner where he was pinned down and finally taken out, but unfortunately he did a lot of damage first.
Add to this that the shooter had no prior arrests, making him eligible for a legal gun purchase, and what the heck is Obama yammering about gun control yet again??? The Democrats obviously want to disarm Americans so they can enslave us in our own country. Hillary should never become president.
Yes there was and I saw it because I’m on a different level where we have access to a different level of lie that you people so you stay put and don’t get any grandiose ideas ...
It chafes me, too. When I hear the word ‘sniper’, I’m thinking of something that the media can’t imagine, it’s utterly outside their world. It’s not some j’off with a rifle popping off a hundred meters away.
Although it was not an AR15, the media will not allow this fact, or the truth prevent them from attempting to advance their agenda.
It was a tracked robot, which might be the best thing to call it to avoid confusion. But armed drones are coming:
It's hard to see in this image but this drone is armed with a full-auto gun.
Latest one I saw was from J&K sales, Prescott, Arizona. ChiCom army surplus, dark but shootable bores, $329.00 . Comes with sling and cleaning kit.

A man who shoots at police and kills five of them
I’ll take this one. FU, go look it up you lazy bastard.
Well maybe I missed the memo but I consider someone firing on unsuspecting people (police or civilian) from concealment (or in the open) to be a coward
Shooting those who you sneak upon and killing them is only a good thing in war.
Surely you are not suggesting that police are open and fair targets these days
It used to. In better days, no man of honor would have fought that way.
The robotics company you want to keep an eye out for is Cyberdyne Systems out of California. They’re going places, trust me.

“Surely you are not suggesting that police are open and fair targets these days.”
Absolutely not. But shooting from concealment is an elementary tactic. In its most basic sense, it’s called defilade, which anyone who has ever served in the military knows about.
“It used to. In better days, no man of honor would have fought that way.”
In better days they would not be able to, as the weapons were broadswords and pikes.
