The alleged weakening of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation appears to be triggering a growing amount of speculation about abrupt cooling, like the plot of the movie The Day After Tomorrow.

a growing amount of speculation about abrupt cooling Next, the libtards will find a way to blame economic progress as either causing it or exacerbating it. Then they have all the justification they need for big government to control and shut down economic activity.

So what’s European life like without gulf-stream warming? It could be four degrees cooler. Minus two degrees for global warming; that’s two degrees. Not going to cover the continent in ice.

Bet it is still man-caused and only taxes will fix it. Pay no attention to that big yellow thing in the sky.

When I was in HS in 1973 they were worried about a new ice age. Everyone had to give up their electric appliances because we were going to plunge the earth into a new ice age.

For one thing El Nino is over and we are going into a La Nina period of cooling. A natural cycle is taking place.

AMOC slowdowns have long been suspected as the cause of the climate swings during the last ice age, This isn't the cause, but just another sign that the earth is basically unstable. One of these "chickens who cry the sky is falling" needs to explain why the AMOC slows down.

I was in JRS and my 7th Grade class science magazine had a solution. Scientists were calculating how to set off H-bombs at strategic points of the globe and change the Earth's axis to bring on Global Warming and save us. Added benefits of a warmer earth was more crops worldwide.
I wish I had saved that article!

When haven’t they flip flopped? I’m still waiting for glaciers we were supposed to be seeing back in the 70s.

I told some young folks a few months ago about the whole global cooling thing from the 70s. Poor special snowflakes were so confused.

I am sure it doesn't matter whether it is Global Warming OR Global Cooling. If we just send all our money to AlGore he will save us.

Yes, but the cooling was caused by global warming!

I read about one "solution" to global warming that involved putting huge clouds of aluminum dust into orbit around the planet to block out sunlight and cool the atmosphere. Scary stuff.

The next ice age is overdue, actually. Of course, co2 has jack to do with this fact.
To: E. Pluribus Unum
Well as I recall, the premise of “Day After Tomorrow” was that global warming shut down the Gulf Stream, which stopped the warm water from the equator from heading north, which caused an ice age in the northern hemisphere.
So in the movie, the freeze was caused by global warming.
The movie sucked, but the special effects were cool, especially the money shot of the tidal wave taking out NYC.

There was a coming ice age in the 70s followed by AGW from the 90s on until recently. Now it’s climate change- cover all the bases no matter what happens. I wish those clowns would STFU.
