A commenter on Free Republic said it happened near Elie Wiesels funeral.
I heard/read that a young man started climbing one of the boulders in CP when he stepped on something and it exploded very loudly. I believe he lost a foot and part of a leg. Poor kid. He seems to be very young and a good looking fellow. Not known if it was a firecracker of some sort or something more sinister. Happened near Elie Wiesel funeral. Dont know if that was related.

Scary...but possible.
Are you talking about a firework mortar round? Because a military 60mm, 81mm, etc. mortar round will most definitely blow a leg off...turn you into paste if you're in the kill radius.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
>Are you talking about a firework mortar round?
Yup. The biggest firework mortar round is usually 25-40g of gunpowder. Nothing like the real stuff.
“In the headline, they should replace BREAKING with EXPLOSIVE.”
That was priceless...but I feel sort of guilty laughing so hard about it!
Love your sense of humor
Congrats to Free Republic and to freeper poster "EinNYC" for being on top of this Central Park bomb explosion story...as this forum always is when things are breaking big!

The Ramble was designed by Olmstead as a 36-acre wild garden.
Exactly what I thought...
What a frickin’ clickbait article title... and untrue at that...
The media doesn’t seem to be interested in this for some reason.
Sounds like a small Claymore mine (”Bouncing Betty”)
