This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks.
No matter what, you won’t be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked. It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table(recipes)preserving, good living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us!

Yep, Daisy was gone in a flash if she was outside. Inside, she just went nuts against the patio door. The prey instinct was great in her.
Big T-Storms right now, which is good as I just put out some grass seed around my raised vegetable beds (Made of dresser drawers with the bottoms removed)

It really is a nice machine.It’s an older one with a Kohler Magnum 8 engine,but it was always maintained and stored inside.It will till down to about 8 inches deep.
How does it handle big rocks?
I don’t know,I haven’t hit any yet.The gear box is massive so I don’t think it would get damaged.I’ve made a career(it seems like it anyway)out of picking all the rocks out of the garden area.The glaciers drug down rocks by the millions here in northern Ohio.
Our German Shepherd spotted a woodchuck in the back yard on Tuesday morning.She killed it in a few seconds.

What do other gardeners plant around their Oriental poppies? They look horrible by this time of year. My delphiniums did not come back this year that usually hide the ugly poppy foliage. It’s a challenge in zone 4. Rudbeckia or Echinacea would overwhelm the poppies, in fact they are getting too close. I know I could put more annuals there, but I don’t want to. My gardens are quite large and it gets expensive. :(
Here in Connecticut it has been so dry forever. Tonight we finally have some rain.
Clear tomorrow so will go to gardens to weed.
Purchased a Grow Box and put 2 tomato plants and one lettuce plant. Tomato’s growing beautifully. Don’t think the lettuce is really lettuce so may pull that out or just wait and see what happens.
The fun is to see what the heck is the supposed lettuce. The Bonnie sticker said Head Lettuce Iceberg type but it is growing straight up with a lot of leaves and just doesn’t look right. Anyone that grows Iceberg tell me if that is what should happen?
I really need to set up a potato growing bin.
I forgot what fresh potatoes taste like.
The last few bags from the store have been bad.
I always smell them first but they go so fast.
Rotten taters are the worst!

Hi Greeneyes! I have a question for the gardening FReepers. I purchased tomato plants in a container. The cherry tomato plants look super healthy. However, the larger tomato style plants are presenting some issues. There are three almost ripe tomatoes that seem to either have a “rot” or “something eating it”. I would say “rot” because a section is dark/black and then a gaping, open hole occurs. Any advice is appreciated.

What is the variety that you used last year and the one for this year? I just might want to try it in our indoor winter garden.
I’m not sure. Have you considered doing a little refurbishing of soil, and trying delphiniums again?
I am having a similar problem in my tulip and daffodil bed. and I am considering Dianthus, and Johnny Jump Ups. The Johnny Jump Up is an annual viola that is edible, but it reseeds itself several years in a row without need to replant.
I am in zone 5 and not all that familiar with what does well in your zone.
