An F-35 fighter pilot says he would be confident flying the Joint Strike Fighter against any enemy in the world, including Russian and Chinese 5th Generation stealth fighters.
An F-35 Joint Strike Fighter would be able to use its sensors, weapons and computer technology to destroy Russian and Chinese 5th-Generation Stealth fighters in a high-end combat fight, service officials said.
“There is nothing that I have seen from maneuvering an F-35 in a tactical environment that leads me to assume that there is any other airplane I would rather be in. I feel completely comfortable and confident in taking that airplane into any combat environment,” Lt. Col. Matt Hayden, 56th Fighter Wing, Chief of Safety, Luke AFB, Arizona, told Scout Warrior in a special pilot interview.
Furthermore, several F-35 pilots have been clear in their resolve that the multi-role fighter is able to outperform any other platform in existence.

Not photoshopped, looks more like an XPlane version of the cockpit. XPlane has very realistic, functional renderings of many aircraft cockpits.

Are you really telling me that this is an attempt to try to sell a defective program, are you? Air Force officers wouldn’t do that, would they? /sarcasm off.
I toured Wright-Patterson AFB in 1979 where they were already creating simulators that looked similar to the cockpit picture, except that the displays were CRTs. I would assume one big problem about having a glass cockpit would be shards flying around if the a/c took a hit and shattered the glass. I assume they have somewhat resolved that issue.

One of my concerns is that the F-35 is designed to be fighter and attack aircraft (a/c) and as such has certain real compromises to fulfill both tasks. Now much the same condition has been the case for years with the USAF using A-10s, F-16s and F-15s.
The A-10 & F-16 were never designed to go up against a current gen frontline fighter although the F-16 had some ability there. So it was the F-15 Eagle’s job to be their defense and blocking tackle in this role.
So my sense is that we are in danger of having too few F-22s to act in this role formerly held by the aging F-15. While the Eagles can help, we need to restart the production line for the F-22 against the future opponents.

Here’s my 2 cents and concern. If we have to go up against the Russians or Chinese, the first assets that we lose will be AWACS and any other airborne sensor platform that provides early warning and/or situational awareness. F-22 and F-35 capability will diminish without the top cover. I see too many battle simulations that show the F-22s and F-35’s taking on an enemy of superior number, but the AWACS is always mentioned and assumed not to be a target. The ability to detect and then share situational awareness in near real time is an important advance, but losing the AWACS removes the long range detection, warning, assessment, and analysis.
I doubt it’s better than a P-51 mustang. What a waste of money.

Considering that the F35 is single engine it’s an especially boneheaded move by the Navy to purchase them. Look at the loos/crash rates of F-16s vs F-18s and F-15s. They aren’t even close.
Single engine plane over vast empty ocean expanses. What could go wrong?
