BREAKING NEWS: Radagast Pet Food, Inc. of Portland, Oregon has announced a voluntary recall of four lots of its Frozen Rad Cat Raw Diet, which may be contaminated by Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes.
Untreated, a Listeria infection in a cat can result in paralysis and in swelling of the brain. Salmonella and Listeria can be carried past consumption as well, affecting other pets, and even humans. Untreated, humans can experience arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms.
The affected products have been distributed throughout Western Canada and 48 of 50 of the United States (all but Hawaii and Mississippi). Please check to see if you have any of these products in your possession:

Radagast Pet Food, Inc. voluntarily issued this recall as a precautionary measure.

Portland, Oregon wants your cars to die horribly—and you, too. Rad aghast, indeed!
Yeah. It is cooked food only for my cats. There is a very good reason we invented cooking... too much chance of food poisoning with the raw stuff.
When the feral alley cat wants raw food, he makes his own. If he’s feeling lazy, he can have some dry food or canned Friskies from Walmart.
thank you for posting this.
Thank-you for posting this warning!
Only fancy feast for the little (pudgy) guy.
Eight years old this past week. Who the @#$ knows his real birth date but my wife likes to celebrate it.
We dont have kids so it makes her happy :)
I thought it was an excuse to play with fire.
Glad to help.
Humans were put on earth to pamper cats. Just ask the cats.
You’re very welcome.
Thanks for posting this-I did consider that raw frozen food for my 3 spoiled, ungrateful shelter cats-not that Rad Cat, another brand-but when I asked my vet about it, she said she wouldn’t recommend it-so I’m sticking with Friskies dry seafood sensations mixed with a can of FanciFeast or Friskies canned-salmon or tuna and egg-they like that just fine, and apparently it is safe...
I know I’ve said this before, but he was my only friend until 7pm when wife got home for five years while I recovered from an injury.
I love my furry littlge guy :) He’s my best friend!
Eve though he walks on me like i’m a carpet and uses me ilke a tramp for hugs when he wants them then walks away :)
My pleasure.
Domesticated animals should not be given raw food - especially that which has been handled by humans. Just look it up on the web>
I’ve had Lethargy, Nausea and a Headache since January, 2008!
Here I thought it was 0bama, but it was Listeria! ;)
Thanks for the warning, I’ll pass it on.
My mother use to spent a very long time choosing her fancy feast for her cats. . .carefully reading about the various flavors on the labels. . . so long that twice my father, who use to check out the rest of their purchases and wait on her on the bench by the registers, had his shopping cart emptied entirely and reshelved by Walmart employees thinking someone just left the cart. Both went to be with Jesus a couple of years ago and now I find myself almost as bad with the cats. . . and then there is Doggy Dog. . . . . . . :)
PS I do feed them a little differently than my mother. . . I faithfully every morning put the fancy feast on separate plates, put about 4 treats on top and finish off with a squirt of ASAP silver biotic gel :) No urinary infections here. They also get Merrick dry. OK. . so I do give them a little more fancy feast at night after the tom cat paws at me . . the sign the plate is empty or he wants out. Live in the country and these are indoor/outdoor cats and are always leaving me presents in the form of little mice, vols and sometimes a little frog or bird around the outside of the house. They each have their own personality and really I wasn’t a cat lover until I was left with these three.
