One thing Star Trek always does well is push beyond social boundaries, often featuring progressive storylines that question controversial issues of the time.
The new Star Trek series on CBS will also feature progressive characters and stories, maintaining the tradition of going "where no one has gone before."
When asked about those kinds of story lines, showrunner Bryan Fuller confirmed that the new series plans on going back to Star Trek's roots.
"I think the progressive audience that loves Star Trek will be happy that we're continuing that tradition," Fuller said to Collider.

They tried an indy “Gay Trek” on YT and it bombed. It sounds like promoting cultual suicide outweighs all other concerns. I am not motivated to buy a television because of this news.
Socialism is the sword of the muslim, and muslims are the vehicle for The Enemy.

I was in that audience and i wouldn’t express it as “softening.”

There were fights and shooting fasers all over. Was that “progressive?”

WHAT? When did the Trek franchise start doing that? /sarc.
It would be funny to see some flaming, homosexual Klingons. The new show will probably be a caricature of the original.

Too bad. I loved the original Star Trek because it was great sci fi. It started to to fall part when they used the format to send a political/social message. Then it became more Hollywood politically correct trash.
Looks like it still is.

The Klingons were too noisy and dramatic. I liked how the Romulans were quiet and disciplined, all the while scheming to be several steps ahead of their enemies. They would put something in motion and then patiently wait for their enemies to make a mistake.

I think the most right-wing sci-fi show in recent years was Space Above and Beyond . I remember watching that one!
(Maybe I should dig up a copy and rewatch it.)

Depends on how good-looking the actresses are.
I’d watch just about anything with Anna Torv.
