Secede! I now believe it is time. Our country is broken beyond repair. There is no longer civil discussion and hasn't been for years. It is time for Texas, Oklahoma and other like minded states to go our separate ways and let the libs, gimmedats and refugees finish destroying what is left.
I have been around for a long time and don't post often. I have had enough! Fire away, I have my asbestos shorts on.

The India-Pakistan separation resulted in unrest between Hindus and Muslims that claimed well over a million lives. It might be better to shoot for a Czech Republic / Slovakia kind of partition.
It's apparent you've not been keeping up with the news.
Texas legislature has approved and is now building a Texas Gold Depository. Although the succession movement failed to get Succession on the ballot in Texas during our convention this time, it did in fact go to a vote.
This is not a keyboard crusade. It's real and it WILL happen if the ferrule gubbamint collapses this nation. It's almost a forgone conclusion.
My response was to restore the Constitution, that is, to eliminate all usurpations, through patriotic, constitution-loving leadership.
All this Secession tawk is for another day. Texas will not secede unless the federal government collapses our nation. Then, a serious vote will occur.
The free states violated nothing. The D@mned Slave Power was forcing its way into the entire country regardless of the moral beliefs of the people just like "gay marriage" has done. You neo-Confederates aren't going to like that, but it's true. Let's face it: some conservatives (including some FReepers) have a very ethnocentric view of conservatism.
First the Slave Power passed the Compromise of 1850 which included a federal fugitive slave, up to which time the return of fugitive slaves (mandated in the Constitution) was carried out by local authorities who had a greater ability to make sure no Black person was misidentified and impressed into slavery. Then came the Kansas-Nebraska Act which repealed the Missouri Compromise, not only turning Kansas into a bloody hell but making the same thing possible throughout the rest of the Northern states of the Louisiana Purchase.
Oh, and let's not forget how the Dred Scott decision then paved the way for the introduction of slavery throughout the whole country followed by the caning of Senator Charles Sumner by Preston Brooks, leaving him crippled for years and which act is still defended by many conservatives to this day because it represented feudal European "honor!" Gad!
And finally after the election of Abraham Lincoln (the first Republican President beside which every one of you neo-Confederates is a RINO) won the election in 1860 leading the Cotton States to pitch a hissy fit and pulled out before the man had even been inaugurated to commit any "Yankee outrage against Southern womanhood!"
For you people a conservative is someone who wants to conserve European civilization. You have no concept of Universal Objective Religious Truth. You prattle about "G-d-given rights" when the most basic of them for your ancestors and ideological forebears was to own other people, and yes, I agree that there is a true Biblical Halakhic slavery which is beyond human questioning, but I doubt very seriously any of you are the least bit interested in learning about it.
Your holy land is Europe. Your holy of holies is European genes and chromosomes. You label Abraham Lincoln a centralizing Communist dictator while praising the similarly centralizing Jefferson Davis (he came from "good European stock") as well as other centralizers such as Papadopoulos, Franco, Salazar, Chiang, Pinochet, etc. (and yes, they were better than the Communists but I don't go around slamming Abraham Lincoln while praising them). John Brown was an insane Communist terrorist because he was against slavery; if he had committed the same acts to do away with abortion you'd all consider him a hero!
I don't rule out the possibility of favoring secession some time in the future myself, but let's please stop reducing "our liberties" to having Anglo-Celtic-European genes and chromosomes!
You people hate Black people so much, yet you each apparently want to own one. Why? To spread "subversive African Communism" among your frail Southern belles?
Obama's worst crime is to turn people against the Union and Abraham Lincoln. I can't wait for the Free State of Jones to come out so FReepers can condemn the actual historical people as "globalist hippie faggot Obamabots!"
Let me ask you a simple question: do counties have the right to secede from states . . . or is that "different?"
I’m aware of the gold depository and think its a brilliant idea. I’m also well aware of the antics of the TNM, although I don’t follow them closely.
Secession is suicide. We learned that after Ft. Sumpter. Unlike the views of many of the keyboard revolutionaries herein assembled we don’t face a binary choice of secession or capitulation. The gold depository is a great example of a third way. How about several dozen encores? Texas can achieve an envious level of autonomy and freedom. But all of those measures should pull up short of secession.
“Civil War, and the North would control the purse strings”
Not since manufacturing is now in the South.
LOL! Wow, only 30 replies. That didn't take long. Secede from Dallas, Austin, and WashDC!
Can we just ship all the liberals to the cities and build a wall around each city? Kinda like a UN Agenda21 kind of solution, but just for the communists. lol!
That said, we have some really evil people in our government. I'm not sure we will ever turn this country around. Demographics will not be realized for at least another decade. Flooding this country with Muzzies, Messy-cans and who the heck else will be our downfall, financially, culturally, politically.
That said, Texas should be ready for any eventuality.

Interesting question, ZC.
Each individual’s concept of liberty and right of secession differs. For example, this woman presents some thought-provoking material. Most of it makes excellent sense, although, IMO, at some point towards the end of the video, she “loses” me : )

There are Libertarians who believe slightly differently. And then, there are min-anarchists who hold alternate beliefs.
We live under the United States Constitution, which speaks to States rights, and does not mention County rights. I suspect County rights would fall under each individual state’s State Constitution.
In the end, I hold individual liberty in the highest esteem. At times, though, it is a challenge to reconcile that with living in a society with other people!
Some random thoughts on Texas autonomy
- devolution from state to a territory. Income taxes flow to territory in that case. See Guam.
- de facto nullification.
- deputization of large numbers of Texans.
- expansion of state guard.
Most Americans just aren't into politics enough that they'd risk separation and civil war.
Those of us who are passionate about politics aren't necessarily the people anybody else would want to have in charge.
It does seem like ill-feeling and animosity are at a high point right now in America.
But the divisions don't break cleanly on geographical lines.
It's not just that people hate the politicians on the other side in the other half of the country.
They also just aren't that crazy about those on their own side and in their own part of the country.

I think one aspect that you haven’t touched on is the helplessness and powerlessness that some have regarding representation in this representative republic. Some of them are feeling like it might be easier just to split the sheets and start over.
Of course those who do fail to recognize the extraordinary obstacles to secession. It isn’t like the gag on Seinfeld where you spin around three times chanting “I break with thee! I break with thee! I break with thee!” and magically you are emancipated from your situation and released from all your obligations.
So yea, I appreciate the frustration we have with the status quo but don’t believe that many view secession as a serious option.
Secession would accomplish nothing unless we also expelled all of the Liberals and other enemies of freedom from the state. Realistically, neither will ever happen. The warfare would be horrible, worse than last time.
That’s the nasty part, the genocidal component.
Well, thanks for the ad hominem attack. FYI, I’m of Yankee stock (Illinois) and had 16 ancestors fighting for the union in the late unpleasantness between the states. Several died. I’m conservative to the core and think Abraham Lincoln was one of our three greatest presidents (the other two being George Washington and Ronald Reagan). I detest European culture, I’m a rock-solid Bible-based born again Christian and though I regret it took so many lives to achieve I’m delighted by the outcome of the Civil War (though it took another century to really make any headway). I’m also looking forward to The Free State of Jones. But I also have a degree in history and pretty good research skills. If you’ll look, you’ll find many constitutional scholars agree with my posting. Perhaps you should spend less time making assumptions and attacking people’s characters and more time looking into the subject? Regards!
Couldn’t agree more, but it’s not going to happen. We’ve gone too far down the wrong road.
