A frog hit by a lawn mower in Mount Isa owes its life to animal lovers who worked to fly it across Queensland for life-saving treatment at a special Cairns frog hospital.
The common green frog was run over in April by a woman who was "very distraught", FrogSafe president Deborah Pergolotti told 9NEWS.
The frog suffered a "deep gash" to his back and the woman called a relative for help, who in turn contacted FrogSafe's Cairns Frog Hospital.
The group then coordinated a rescue effort, enlisting the help of a regional airline and an animal transport company to fly the frog to Cairns.
"We were able to get on the flight on Monday (April 18), and by this stage he had gotten infected,"

Insects come and go, wax and wane. years ago we had a massive infestation of blister beetles, then the next year it was crickets.
Then ticks.
Since those days we have had another infestation of crickets, but NO blister beetles.
Right now it is water bugs.
Really??? We see lots of frogs, honeybees and butterflies. But, then again, we live in the woods in the northeast.
what’s red and green and red and green and red and green?
a frog in a blender
my chickens are very fond of frogs and snakes.
big things eat little things.
next question?
Hey,
A frog fell into my watering can in my back yard and drown. When I found him I was very upset because it was my fault for not emptying the water. I buried the frog and put a tomb stone on his itty bitty grave.
I use to see that frog all the time in my yard. He made me happy.
Gorilla Tape on a turtle ?
Monarchs are seasonal laborers. They return to Mexico when their job is done. They don’t hang around, collect unemployment and tie up emergency rooms. They don’t collect welfare benefits or steal the identities of Native born butterflies. They don’t send their children to public schools or drive uninsured cars with faulty brakes.
Is that worse than being mildly distraught?
Mine either. I think the only thing I want that “tastes like chicken” is chicken :)
Wonder if it is from an invasive species.
Hilarious.
Frogs legs taste pretty good too. Just like chicken. :)
I can envision a future where there are frog, racoon, snake etc. hospitals, but very few people hospitals.
I toad you this would happen some day.
The Monarchs may take a while. I think I remember hearing of a hard freeze in that part of Mexico this past winter.
It’s called winter :-)
We had the most dragonflies and damselflies when our pond was being taken over by lilly pads. We ended up with so many lilly pads you could hardly see the water and then gently killed them off with a drop of some sort of Round up solution in the middle of each pad. They died off but the biomass encouraged a nasty string algae which finally died off and now the pond is in a pretty good balance. The fish lived through it all. There are still a lot of dragonflies but not as many. Several varieties. They eat the mosquitoes.
