DANBURY - Aimee Toms was washing her hands in the women’s bathroom at Walmart in Danbury Friday when a stranger approached her and said, “You’re disgusting!” and “You don’t belong here!”
After momentary confusion, she realized that the woman next to her thought - because of her pixie-style haircut and baseball cap - that she was transgender.
Besides being a pretty normal choice of style for women, Toms’ has a short haircut because she recently donated hair - for the third time - to a program that makes wigs for child cancer patients.
“I’ve had people call me all sorts of names for having short hair. I’ve had people call me a boy, I’ve had people call me a dyke, I’ve had people call me gay.” Toms said. “I’m grateful that that woman only called me disgusting and didn’t physically attack me … I was a victim of transphobia today as a cisgender female because my hair is short.”
Toms said she was supportive of transgender rights before Friday’s Walmart experience. She is close friends with several transgender people, including someone she went to high school with who went from prom queen to identifying as a male.
She thought her video would be seen only by friends and family, and was surprised to soon be getting messages of support from people “all across the country.”

I call BS. When people seek publicity, it’s usually over a made-up outrage, like racist graffiti.
Yes, but a man could do the same. Or reasonably well to look like a woman. He could even look just feminine enough ... without a dress and all that so that there is no way to reasonably tell without a panty check.
I believe that the Obama Administration actually has a small, but well funded department that turns these words out, which are then distributed to academics in universities - which, of course, spreads like a disease to their idiot students.

They lost the moral high ground when they made rules to accommodate the latest victim class that also lower the bar for freaks to abuse women and children.

I’ve had short hair, too, and somehow managed to avoid being a so-called victim seeking her 15 pathetic minutes of fame.
it means “real gender,” not a freak, etc. Trangenderism is sexual communism at its worst; it seeks to make humans all the same sex, and its really a way to make homosexuals more accepted.
We need to protect women and children in the bathroom, first and foremost. The greatest need is not to go all PC and let “anyone” into women’s rooms.
However, both butch looking lesbians AND feminine attempting transgenders ARE ALREADY USING the women’s room and not harming anyone. Forget about them and let’s focus on not allowing MEN in there.
And ladies, I am bringing my 13 yr old special needs boy in the women’s with me. Deal with it. He won’t harm you and I can’t leave him outside. (He almost never has to pee but I do so I take him in with me to keep him safe because he doesn’t speak and he is very passive. He is a perv’s dream. )
Dang, I’m 76 and wear my hair long in an updo, in a chignon in back with curls on top, (mainly because my hair is balding and growing it long lets me style it to look like I have lots of hair and just came from the salon...easiest hairdo ever, with no perm required. I worked in an office most of my life and always wear makeup. Am I going to have to worry if I use the rest room in Target folks may decide I’m not a girlie girl but a guy in drag. Like a freeper mentioned above, will we have to “show our credentials” to use the facilities???
Not a problem if you don't shop at Target!
