A “transmasculine” teacher at an Oregon elementary school has been awarded $60,000 by her school district as compensation for harassment she claims to have suffered on the job, including being referred to by the wrong pronoun.
According to The Oregonian, Leo Soell was born a woman, but now prefers to identify as “transmasculine” and “genderqueer,” meaning she does not consider herself to be male or female. After getting breast cancer in late 2014, she had her breasts amputated to create a more masculine appearance and changed her name to Leo. Once she returned from medical school in May, 2015, Soell was fully public with her gender-neutral identity.
Once she returned to work, Soell claims she fell victim to relentless harassment from her co-workers. She says employees persisted in calling her hurtful terms like “Miss Soell,” “lady,” and “she.” If a student asked Soell’s sex, she says she was ordered to reply it was a private matter not suitable for discussion at school.

I can’t wait until Congress passes, and President Trump signs into law, a bill that: a) only allows people into federally-controlled bathrooms, showers and locker rooms based on whether they have and XY chromosome pairing or an XX pairing, and which also prohibits any lawsuits or workplace complaints for “pronoun oppression” or similar such nonsense. Then Trump can tell his Attorney General to sue any business that doesn’t comply. The bill/law can be called the Common Sense and Free Speech Restoration Act of 2017.

I used to get disciplined in school for patterns on shirts, bright colored shoes and using a laptop because “it was a distraction”.

Bingo. The "education" profession, even outside Oregon, has perhaps the highest concentration of radical leftist ideologues of any line of work. The system is organized to produce leftist true believers (in schools of "education"), to employ them in preference to normal people, and to promote the most effective advocates of radical ideas to positions of greater power.
There was a time in America when we actually protected children from mentally ill sickos like this. A school district that willingly puts mentally ill people like this in a classroom with children is perpetrating child abuse.
A good reason not to hire transgenders. You can’t use that as a reason, but if everything else is equal (qualifications) and you document the hiring/interview process enough to fight a bogus lawsuit, a manager is better off hiring the non-transgender. Not just about losing $60k but the team dynamic leading up to and after it.
I’d guess this wasn’t simply about greed (for the he/she/they/it tho probably for the lawyer) but also about advancing the cause. Very short-sighted since it actually hurts the cause the next time a transgender wants a job.
