Homeboykris, a 9-year-old horse, died shortly after winning the first race of the day.
The Maryland-bred horse came from behind to win the race as a 9-1 underdog. It collapsed on the way back to the barn after exiting the winners circle.
Tragically, Homeboykris collapsed after leaving winner's circle on way back to barn after winner's circle and died.

Four-year-old Pramedya collapsed in the middle of the fourth race with a broken left front leg and was euthanized on the track. It was the fifth start of the fillys career. The horses jockey, Daniel Centeno, broke his right collarbone in the fall and was taken to a local hospital.
A cause of death for Homeboykris has not been determined. The horse will be taken to New Bolton Center Hospital in Pennsylvania for a necropsy.

Anybody know what time the race is, and what network?
She was beautiful.
Buying an animal for that kind of money and having it drop dead on you.....I’ll bet it is worth more dead than ever as a 9 to 1 shot. Insurance is expensive.
I know exactly what you speak of.
Man O War would be considered a “chunky, heavy” horse, now.
Some blame Native Dancer for the broken legs curse.
Homeboykris was a ND linebred but it seems his legs held up and his heart gave out, if I had to bet.
Horses are not meant to be built like Greyhounds.
The Spanish Mustangs we love, along with the Andalusian and the Barbs.
Good horses.
It was a horror show.
She just kept running and falling apart.
One of those things I wish I could claw out of my memory.
^^This^^
Just another reason for people to indulge their gambling addiction.
Dog racing, too.
The gelding was 6 years old and had made his owners over a million bucks.
He had no more future, being gelded and they made their money off him.
Yeah but everyone loved that big girl.
Years ago we had to put down a high dollar race horse because of a destroyed knee. The vet used a syringe of Nicotine Sulfide and death was within six seconds.
One of the men with us asked why they just did not shoot the horse. The Vet’s reply was “It looks nicer”.
Barbaro, 2006 Kentucky Derby winner then shattered his leg two weeks later in the Preakness.........That was heart wrenching to watch and the last live race I ever watched.
At 9 years old and a lifetime of racing, my guess is a heart attack..........So sad.
I used to love going to the dog track and betting on the greyhounds. That was taken from me and any other fans, groomers, trainers and breeders. With that said, I don’t think horses should be subjected to horse racing either. The dogs were banned, the horses should be banned. It is simply a matter of fairness, and of course the cruelty of strapping leather on a beautiful creature, and forcing to carry a human. Imagine, having your slave master literally riding astride you to make filthy Lucre.....a mild sarcasm alert.... It will never happen, the wealthy love the ponies. Dogs, it is cruelty to teach them to love to run.

I forgot about him.
(More like mentally blocked it)
I was pinged here to the race and flipped channels just in time to see his legs explode.
Man did I ever curse myself for breaking that vow.
Bet I won’t do it again.
> Horses are athletes and they have the same sorts of injuries that human athletes experience. Broken legs have very different outcomes with humans on the disabled list and horses put down. Horses just cant survive a broken canon bone.
It doesn’t seem very humane to ask an animal to risk its life for one’s entertainment.
yw
ouch I remember that one-Barbaro was a heartbreaker- the owners still haven’t gotten over it at last report from Kentucky Derby 2016.(last week)
You mean it was actually shown?.........Thanks for the heads up........Shit!
Racing is just the means of raising the price of the semen...
