The retired U.S. Women's Soccer star has been hired to serve as an analyst and contributor for the sports network. Wambach will cover soccer during the Rio Olympics and the UEFA European Championships this summer and will also work for other parts of the network such as ESPN Films and shows like "Outside the Lines."

ESPN has gone full PC SJW (Social Justice Warrior). With Wambach they hit two PC protected groups: women and lesbian. ESPN is unwatchable except for actual sports. Also, most of the lineup on ESPN radio stinks from Dan Le Batard, Bomani Jones, Jaled & Jacoby and a bunch of nags on the weekend. If FoxSports had any guts they would go full Trump branding themselves as the place where sports is above PC.

It’s been obvious for some time now that sports is no longer ESPN’s primary focus.

Her alcohol content was 1.3
She apologized and said she was really, really, really sorry. And the court said....what a nice, sweet, innocent whatever....

Abby Wambach was asked, in an interview, to tell people something about herself.
Me? I'd have gone for the option, "Well, I'm captain of the World - that's WORLD - Champion soccer team. It's the absolute pinnacle of my chosen profession, an accomplishment that that I'm enormously proud of, and something that I've worked throughout my entire life to achieve."
Abby chose, "I'M GAAAAY!!!".
But, I suppose that tells me everything that I need to know about her.

As soon as ESPN stumbles upon her criticism of the USMNT selecting foreign players, then she’ll be back out of work.

Zack Morris has really let himself go, since graduating Bayside High School. Oh, and this person was just arrested for DUI about 30 days ago, but for ESPN, that's no problem. A two check-mark and a two bathroom, hire.

She may be a woman, and may be a lesbian, but I dare say that she is knowledgeable about soccer. If she can speak well extemporaneously and describe the game, she is qualified to do the job.
If she makes the job about promoting herself and her lifestyle, she is unqualified.
However, ESPN is managed by idiots in either case - but that isn’t related to this specific act.

You should have seen how her hometown media (Rochester NY) handled this.
Normally very hard on any public figure and DWI, she was almost made out to be the victim of a drunk driver! Sickening!

Firing Schilling based on a logical meme while hiring a person (In a Cultural Marxist protected class) who was busted for a DUI recently creates an optic that screams “agenda or bust”.

She is knowledgeable about soccer, the sport invented for people paralyzed from the waist up, and a sport most Americans have no interest in.

I was born in Rochester and lived there for 30 years. It's almost a cult town now....supported by the government. You can have it.
Roll up your windows when driving through town...it might deflect a bullet.
I'll never understand this "hero" concept of many sports people.
People like Mickey, Robinson...that's a whole different story.

While they fired baseball great, Curt Schilling, for his beliefs and lifestyle?!

The level of interest in the US may be quite true. However, ESPN will be covering the olympics, in which soccer is a major sport, and therefore they would be derelict in not trying to hire knowledgeable announcers and analysts.
