An author is receiving backlash after voicing that childless women also deserve a maternity leave. The concept is deemed a "meternity" leave, and Meghann Foye makes her statement in an article in the New York Post.

Foye, 38, thought up the idea when she was a magazine editor and became "envious" of her co-workers who would leave to care for their children after their eight hour days. She said that she felt as if all of the childless workers had to then pick up the slack and work for ten or more hours a day.

Absolutely! And you get to demand the Obamacare laws regarding nursing. Your employer now must provide with time and a place to pump. Congrats! Ain’t liberalism grand?

These women simply IDENTIFY as mothers.

Probably some men, do, too.

A still smaller sampling identify as platypus.

The arrogance of some people annoys me, and I don’t mean you.

Yes, it was a real problem in offices. Of course, there were responsible women who had young children who put in a full day’s work since they were collecting a full paycheck. But some of the other ones were complete shysters. I suspect some of them even got pregnant for the paycheck and the perks. No office manager/boss dared to speak up to these users.

Oh, the dreariness of grey offices filled with humorless men and women. How I hated it and how I slaved for some of those bastids!

When men would say this, it was sexist!

One of the most important functions of a woman is to be a mother. The more talented, intelligent, and productive the woman, the more important that she be a mother.

“A still smaller sampling identify as platypus.”

that made me think, “Hey, what the plural for platypus?”

No offense, but you often have silly comments like this. Naked jealousy when somebody doesn’t show up to do the job they were hired to do? HR implements these unworkable policies so they don’t get set upon by the government and it’s the poor, besieged boss and his/her staff who have to scramble to get the work done while some broad skips work to pick up the kiddies...or as I found out in one case, have her nails done.

There’s got to be a better way.

No, but an awful lot of women from a certain generation chose to postpone having children, thinking that they could just have them anytime they wanted, and found out too late that female fertility drops off pretty quickly after age 30.

Me, too. Few windows, desperate, depressed people, long hours and an interminable commute.

Coming home to my dog who was dying, I finally made a stand. It was one of the best decisions I ever made.

I’ll bet that in the author’s case that the proper term would be mutturnity leave.

Reminds me of the Aesop Fable of King Log or King Stork. We have made provisions for those who are Mothers, now the non-Mothers feel oppressed by that which they got and want equality. Equity is not desired by the subjective who really want privilege - rather they want equity in outcome rather than opportunity.

In other words, give the idiocracy an inch and they want the mile, paved in gold!

When my old boss left and a new one came in, making tons of money, but always trying to borrow money from me and then once trailing me to my oceanfront home because he was mentally ill, I guess, my husband told me to pack it in. Luckily, I have a decent pension from that place and was able to return to my real love which was writing and the theater. Never looked back either, Tris.
