In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
DIGAMY [DIG uh mee]
noun
DIGAMY is a "second marriage." it rhymes with bigamy but is legal after a divorce, an annulment or the death of a first spouse. Johnson called it the triumph of "hope over experience."
In a Marx Brothers film Groucho, although already married, proposes to the suprisingly unflappable, or at least insufficiently outraged Margaret Dumont. "But that would be bigamy!" says she. "Big o' you?" cries Groucho, "It would be big o' me!"
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
I've been preaching that too. There is, supposedly, to every thing a season, and a purpose unto Heaven.
LOL!
An indication that he has principles and self-respect.
I like to think that my reply was worded slightly more delicately than yours, but you beat me to the punch of saying essentially the same thing.
It would not have taken much to be a better reply than mine..... lol - I was rather crude with that.
I didn’t say it was BETTER, just more delicately worded.
;-)
You were polite - I was being honest! lol How did you do in the storms last night? I hope your home was spared
The storms spared us for the most part, but the Bradford pear tree in our next-door neighbors’ backyard was taken out by the wind right onto our shared fence and our dog run fence. It will probably be over $2000 to repair/replace the fences, but it should all be covered by their homeowners’ property damage liability insurance. Nobody was hurt and no other significant damage, so all in all we’re pretty happy. (plus we are going to put in a much better dog run fence than what we had)
Good deal - my Mom lives in central Oklahoma now so I watch storms as if they were over my head! I saw them heading your way last night - looks pretty bad.
after seeing all the vitriol being posted this afternoon in response to Cruz’s announcement of Carly as his running-mate, I will be truly glad and relieved once the convention is over regardless of who wins. I still believe Cruz could prevail against Hillary in November, and I even more firmly believe that Trump would lose to Hillary in November. If Trump gets the nomination, I will vote for the Libertarian candidate for president and vote straight republican down the rest of the ticket and hope that Trump doesn’t take most of the downticket GOP candidates down the drain with him.
Even if Trump were to somehow prevail in November, the supreme court is almost certain to left as the best we can hope for from him is mediocre appointees and more likely he would appoint longtime liberal activist judges that he has bought and sold over the years.
Jesus, come quickly.
The storms actually were not nearly as severe or damaging as the local media meteorologists hyped them.
But unlike some here, I respect your right to vote as you feel.....
Totally agree with your last sentence. And the rest of what you said. Can’t stomach the tone of FR it’s just nasty anymore.
Agree with you too. I’m going to vote for the nominee but will not urge anyone to vote differently or criticize their choice.
I can't vote for a democrat even if he has the R behind his name this one time. If he sucks so badly as a candidate that he manages to lose the state of Texas to Hillary, then my vote for the Libertarian candidate will not have mattered in the slightest.
